NBC has issued their first cancellations of the season. Sophomore drama Brilliant Minds and freshman comedy Stumble have both been axed. Both struggled in the ratings this season, with Brilliant Minds rating as NBC's lowest-rated scripted series of the season and Stumble being their third-lowest-rated, boasting 0.14 and 0.20 averages, respectively. Brilliant Minds' cancellation in particular has long been telegraphed, as NBC pulled it from the schedule earlier this year in order to make room for The Voice to air two-hour episodes, rather than the initially-planned single-hour episodes. It was later announced that it would return for a summer run to finish out its episode order, which had quietly been cut from twenty-two episodes to twenty. Stumble, meanwhile, finished up its thirteen-episode first season in mid-March, with little word from NBC on its future since then. The show had mediocre retention of Friday night lead-in Happy's Place, though NBC made several attempts to boost it, with repeats behind St. Denis Medical and a post-Olympics airing. Neither were enough to help the show find an audience. Brilliant Minds starred Zachary Quinto, while Stumble starred Jenn Lyon and Taran Killam. Both cancellations are correct predictions for The TV Ratings Guide.
