SETTING: Bullpen of the Bridgeport Zebras. The bullpen's phone is ringing.
ELENA
I'll get it!
KATIE
You are the bullpen coach...
ELENA gives KATIE her signature death stare, then answers the phone.
ELENA [on the phone]
Bridgeport Bullpen, Elena speaking.
ELENA pauses.
ELENA [on the phone]
You don't want anyone warming up?
ELENA pauses again.
ELENA [on the phone]
She's not available. Goodbye.
ELENA slams the phone, then turns to the bullpen.
ELENA
Does anyone know if you can call the dugout on this thing, I wanted to tell her that I should've been the Zebras' manager instead of her.
Nobody answers.
ELENA
ANYONE?!?!
VAL
Want me to throw a bag of peanuts to the dugout? That'll get their attention.
ELENA doesn't answer.
ELENA
Why would she even call for MARISSA, she's not a pitcher, she's not gonna start warming up to go in the game!
MARISSA
I'm right here.
ELENA
Oh. Sorry. Why would she even call for YOU, you're not a pitcher, you're not gonna start warming up to go in the game!
MARISSA
That's more like it.
CAROLYN
Can we maybe take a chill pill, coach?
ELENA
There will be no illegal substances in my bullpen.
CAROLYN
No, a chill pill. Like, ease up.
ELENA
Do you have any, because if you do I WILL report you.
CAROLYN
I have nothing on me! I'm just telling you to calm down! It's just baseball!
ELENA
JUST baseball? Do you know how many people watched our opening game?
TRISH
What station was it on?
ELENA
RSN Bridgeport.
TRISH
Yeah nobody's watching us there.
VAL
Who's us? I don't see any of us on the field? Do you?
KRISTIN
Even when they're making calls to the bullpen, they're not trying to get us on the field.
The bullpen phone rings again. MARISSA jumps up to answer it before ELENA can.
MARISSA [on the phone]
You've reached the Bridgeport---
MARISSA
Kangaroos?
ELENA
ZEBRAS!!!!!!
MARISSA [on the phone]
You've reached the Bridgeport Zebras' bullpen!
MARISSA
Oh, that one's DEFINITELY not for me.
MARISSA hands the phone to ELENA, who hangs up the phone.
ELENA
That'll take care of that.
TRISH
Shouldn't we have known what that was about?
MARISSA
They told Elena to take a chill pill. Apparently, they can hear her from the dugout!
ELENA
They shouldn't be doing drugs.
ELENA walks away in disappointment at the dugout.
TRISH
Well if she's leaving, so am I.
TRISH follows ELENA out of the bullpen, with everyone else following behind her.
