INT. LIBRARY STUDY ROOM - DAY
Edison sits at a table inside a study room. He stares at an open textbook.
EDISON
(To Himself)
I have no idea what this means.
Andrew appears in the doorway.
ANDREW
Hey.
EDISON
Sup.
ANDREW
What’re you studying?
EDISON
Marketing exam.
ANDREW
With Professor Hawkins?
EDISON
Yeah.
ANDREW
Cool. Cool. Hey listen, yesterday I found an extra bottle of your “Hardcore Bod” body wash. I thought you might want it.
EDISON
That’s ok. Besides, you might need it.
ANDREW
I’d rather get fit naturally and Megan doesn’t use it. Might as well give it to the person who actually uses it. Want to get it after you study?
EDISON
Ummm sure yeah.
INT. BAR - NIGHT
Megan and Samantha sit at a bar drinking beer.
MEGAN
Hey I was thinking. What if... what if we moved in together?
SAMANTHA
Don’t you think it’s a little too early for that?
MEGAN
Not really. I really like you and I assume you really like me? You can take Edison’s room.
SAMANTHA
What about Andrew?
MEGAN
I’m sure he’ll be ok with it.
SAMANTHA
Well, I’ll definitely think about it. I’m gonna go to the bathroom.
Samantha smiles at Megan and leaves.
INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT
Andrew sits on the couch. Edison enters.
ANDREW
You still have a key?
EDISON
Yeah.
ANDREW
Oh, well let me get the body wash. Andrew gets up. He pauses. Edison steps into the living room.
EDISON
What’s wrong?
ANDREW
There is no body wash.
EDISON
What?
ANDREW
I lied.
EDISON
Why?
ANDREW
You need to move back in.
EDISON
Are you serious? You lured me here?
ANDREW
Yes, I did. You and I are going to hash things out until you decide to move back in.
EDISON
I’m leaving. To MY apartment.
Edison turns and prepares to leave.
ANDREW
Oh no you don’t.
Andrew runs towards Edison and tackles him to the ground.
EDISON
Andrew what the hell!
ANDREW
We... are... friends!
INT. BAR - NIGHT
Megan is still standing at the bar. She looks at the clock on her phone. Her phone rings. It is Samantha. She answers it.
MEGAN
Samantha? Where are you?
SAMANTHA
(Phone)
I’m sorry it’s just... look, it’s just, you kind of freaked me out by asking me to move in.
MEGAN
But I thought we were getting serious.
SAMANTHA
(Phone)
Yeaaaah you might have thought that but it’s just... I’m not really looking for anything serious.
Megan hangs up and storms out of the bathroom and the bar.
INT. APARTMENT - DAY
Andrew and Edison continue wrestling on the floor.
EDISON
Get... off... of ... me!
Edison throws Andrew off.
ANDREW
Ok look I’m sorry. It’s just... I can’t imagine college without you. Without Megan. Without Sarah. You were the first friend I made here. I’m not ready to give that up so easily. So what's the real reason you won’t move back in?
EDISON
I’m scared ok! I’m scared that if I move back in we’ll get into another fight and then we’ll never be friends again.
ANDREW
Of course, we’ll fight again. That's what friends do. Friends get mad at each other and they care for each other. They comfort each other when they're down and share great times together. Because at the end of the day... we’re friends.
Edison slightly nods, still unconvinced.
Megan barges into the apartment. She rushes to the bathroom, closes the door, and locks the door.
Andrew and Edison give each other concerned looks.
In the bathroom, Megan slumps to the floor and begins bawling.
Andrew and Edison walk up to the bathroom door. Andrew lightly taps on the door.
ANDREW
Megan? Are you ok?
MEGAN
Go away.
EDISON
Megan what’s wrong?
MEGAN
I said go away!
Megan’s crying becomes louder and more severe.
Andrew tries opening the door.
ANDREW
Megan, can you unlock the door. Let’s talk about it.
Megan doesn’t answer.
EDISON
Megan, open the door.
Megan's crying grows louder. Edison takes a few steps back and prepares to run at the door.
ANDREW
Whoa what are you doing?
EDISON
Our friend needs us.
ANDREW
Dude, I can unlock the door with a coin. You got one?
Edison pulls out a coin and hands it to Andrew. Andrew unlocks the door with it and the two enter the bathroom.
Megan is sitting against the wall crying with her knees to her chin.
Andrew and Edison sit down next to her. They each put an arm around her. Megan grabs Edison's hand and places her head on Andrew’s shoulder.
Andrew and Edison look at each other.
EDISON
I’ll move back in tomorrow.
Andrew nods.
They sit in silence comforting their friend Megan.
