FADE IN:

EXT. MANHATTAN SKYLINE - DAY

An urban area is situated in Staten Island in the middle of New York City.

EXT. NETWORK HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Network headquarters is positioned in the heart of New York City, where traffic is bustling through the morning sky.

Pedestrians are walking back and forth, seemingly to get to work.

INT. BUSINESS HALLWAY - DAY

SUPER: A FEW WEEKS LATER

Since the events of Network season 2, changes have occurred in the office.

INSERT - OFFICE DOOR, reading “CHARLOTTE HEIST, PRESIDENT OF THE DRAMA DIVISION”

INT. CHARLIE’S OFFICE - DAY

Charlie sits back on her desk with a sigh.

CHARLIE
Another day at the office.

A cup of coffee is located on the top of her desk on the right hand side of the screen, but to her left hand side of the computer.

She grabs the cup half-heartedly and takes a sip.

There is a knock on the door.

The door opens to reveal Jesse.

CHARLIE (CONT'D)
Just what exactly do you want, Meadows?

Taken aback, Jesse smiles.

JESSE
You are looking at the new head of scheduling.

Charlie shrugs.

CHARLIE
(sarcastically)
Well look at you.

JESSE
What’s the matter?

CHARLIE
That means I’m no longer president.

JESSE
Now now, Charlotte. That’s not such a bad thing. You get to develop dramas. Edgy dramas. Enough for some soapy campy fun.

Charlie lowers her eyebrows. Fury rises from her face as she gets up from her seat.

CHARLIE
What do you think this is, Dynasty?

Jesse leaps back. His eyes widen.

JESSE
(timidly)
No, no, no. Oh, what’s the use?

Jesse turns his back from Charlie and exits the office. The door closes.

Charlie crosses her arms. She sighs.

CHARLIE
Ugh, I hate that boy sometimes. Rub it in, why don’t you?

INT. LEAH'S OFFICE - DAY

Leah and Holly are sitting across from each other at the office.

Leah calmly sits.

Holly has the computer turned around.

HOLLY
Another day of running diagnostic checks.

LEAH
It may be time to get another computer.

HOLLY
Just routine maintenance.

Holly then stops what she is doing.

Leah looks at Holly.

HOLLY (CONT’D)
So congratulations on that bun in the oven. How does that feel?

LEAH
It’s overwhelming, but exciting at the same time.

HOLLY
Our New York office definitely has gotten some excitement. This is not the first time we have a coworker with a bun in the oven.

LEAH
And I feel like this is just the beginning.

They laugh.

EXT. APARTMENT BUILDING - AFTERNOON

SUPER: A FEW HOURS LATER

An apartment complex building is located near the burrough of Queens.

Traffic buzzes through the New York City streets.

INT. JESSE’S APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON

Kasey is sitting on the couch. She is breastfeeding Ezra. She is downtrodden.

Jesse is pacing back and forth.

KASEY
We should get a bigger place. This is no place to raise a family.

Jesse becomes frustrated.

JESSE
This is all we can afford right now. You do realize that a child costs a quarter of a million dollars for eighteen or nineteen years of his or her life?

KASEY
You know, living expenses do factor into the equation.

JESSE
You’re not even thinking this through. This apartment is bigger than most people’s. Don’t you think it’s better to save up now so Ezra’s future is secure long term?

Kasey stands up.

KASEY
We should, but this argument is nonsense. Where I come from, a family of three usually moves to a house. They don’t live in apartments.

Jesse shakes his head.

JESSE
This is New York City. We have more than enough here. Besides, we have each other and we have Ezra. What more can we ask for?

KASEY
All I’m saying is that I want to have our own home. Outside of the city.

JESSE
(confused)
Why would you want to leave the city? New York City is the place to be.

KASEY
I am tired of city life. You may not be, but I am.

Taken aback, Jesse then sits on the couch.

JESSE
I need to take a moment.

Kasey puts Ezra down on his crib and leaves the room furious.

Jesse sighs.

JESSE (CONT’D)
Why is it that every girl I am with is hardly ever satisfied?

Jesse then lays down.

That does it for the third season premiere of Network. Next week, we have more where that came from.
