INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - DAY
JACK types away at his computer. NOAH is making notes on his notebook.
Noah puts his notebook down. He gets up.
JACK
(confused)
What are you doing?
NOAH
Taking a break.
JACK
We’ve been taking too many breaks while writing these scripts.
NOAH
(looking downward)
Aren’t we on episode 8 now?
JACK
Yes.
NOAH
Then we have a show right?
Jack puts his computer down.
Noah’s eyes widen.
Jack turns to face Noah.
JACK
I don’t think that’s simple.
NOAH
Come on, we’ve dealt with much worse. We did Guide to TV Ratings and...
JACK
That’s not an appropriate thing to discuss, Noah.
(shrugs)
We just need to know where the show stands.
Noah then sits back down on the couch. He takes his notepad.
He looks over it, glaringly.
Jack reviews his notes.
He turns to Noah with a sad disposition.
JACK
Do you even think the show is worth making?
NOAH
(taken aback)
I don't know. What exactly do you think about the show?
JACK
It could be better.
NOAH
Well, it could be worse.
Jack gets up. Noah follows.
CUT TO:
INT. APARTMENT KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
Jack is in the kitchen, as he puts his hands on the counter.
Noah enters.
Jack does not look at Noah at first. He then turns.
NOAH
So, have you made up your mind on this show yet?
JACK
We should go back to the drawing board.
NOAH
But why? Surely there are scenes in our script that align with the core purpose.
JACK
If you ever had a core purpose, then what would you do?
NOAH
Simply put, even with all the money in the world, it takes a lot of hard work to get where we need to be.
JACK
That's a start.
Noah turns to Jack.
NOAH
Why don't you try to cook something to get this script out of your mind?
JACK
Okay, I have the ingredients to one.
Jack then gets the ingredients together furiously. Noah observes carefully.
Jack gets pieces of bread, eggs, and other food items.
NOAH
Making french toast?
JACK
How did you ask?
