Mom Renewed for Two Additional Seasons

CBS has renewed one of its most acclaimed series for two additional seasons. Mom will be back for a seventh and eighth season, following contact negotiations with stars Allison Janney and Anna Faris. The two stars will receive pay raises as part of the renewal. The series has been a solid performer for CBS over its six-year run, with season six delivering a 1.25 average thus far. That's a 17% decline from season 5, a season that marked a 2% increase from season 4. Mom has been a staple of the CBS Thursday lineup and comes from Chuck Lorre. With The Big Bang Theory exiting this season, a show that's as consistently solid as Mom seemed to be a lock for renewal, though the two-season pickup is a clear sign of confidence from CBS in a transition period for the network. This was a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
