FADE IN:

INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - EVENING

Last time on Writer’s Block, NOAH and JACK went behind each other’s backs to find new writing partners. JILL is eating a casserole Jack made when Noah walks in with STEVE.

NOAH
Jill?

JILL
Noah? What are you doing back so soon?

NOAH
I wanted to show Steve around. He’s my new writing partner.

JACK
Really?

NOAH
Yep.

JACK
Well, if that’s the case, you have already seen my new writing partner.

NOAH
Jill is your new writing partner? I can’t believe I’m seeing things.

Steve huddles back outside the apartment.

Jack is frustrated as he exits the living room. Noah sets his backpack down and kneels as he takes his laptop out. He then manages to begin typing while Jill gets up and examines Jack and Noah’s apartment.

Jack returns to the living room with his laptop. He grumbles at Noah, who does not return the same gesture and remains silent.

CUT TO:

INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - AN HOUR LATER
Jack and Noah save their respective scenes on Celtx on their laptops. They nod. Then they exit the scene, one after the other. Jill turns to Steve, who returns into the apartment with a notepad.

JILL
(puzzled)
Say, where did you get this notepad, I wonder?

STEVE
It’s a little something I use to jot down ideas.

JILL
Does it help you spark a scene afterwards?

STEVE
It depends.

Jack returns with printed copies of his scene. He hands it to Jill.

JILL
Well, what is this?

JACK
A scene from a 30 minute sitcom, I might add.

JILL
I’m going to read this.

Jill begins reading as she takes out her pen and sits down on the couch. She makes notes.

Steve turns to Jack.

STEVE
Sometimes, it may help to get some constructive criticism.

JACK
What does that supposed to mean?

STEVE
It’s something I have been working on for a while.

Noah enters the scene, also with a copy of a scene he worked on and hands it off to Steve.

STEVE
This shall be good.

Jill then looks up at Jack, with a sour look.

JILL
I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone for a moment. No resolution to this.

JACK
Okay? Is that a good start?

JILL
You lost me with this scene. It’s not what I have expected.

Steve then turns to Noah.

STEVE
Now this is unfortunate.

JACK
I’m going to read Noah’s script now.

Jack then snatches the script from Steve’s hands as he begins to read it. He perks up.

JACK
Hey, I like this.

NOAH
(puzzled)
What do you mean, Jack?

STEVE
They don’t sound good to me.

JILL
I have to agree with Steve here.

STEVE
Alright, Jill, let’s get out of here, shall we?

JILL
Of course.

JACK
Have it your way. I like his idea.

Jill and Steve exit the scene. Jack then turns to Noah.

NOAH
Thanks for sticking up for me, Jack. You really didn’t have to do that.

JACK
So, are we back in business?

NOAH
We’re back in business!

They shake hands.
