Written Clamoring for Friday Sitcoms Again by Bridger Cunningham.

Does anyone recall a period when Friday nights were a hotbed for sitcom laughs?  Apparently, the networks believe dealing out fractional ratings will suffice for depriving viewers.  All of the network show were playing "Go Fish" for higher ratings, all containing numbers between 2-7.  FOX led the evening as they recognized small creatures work fast as Master Chef Junior pulled in another 0.7.  CBS narrowly scraped that average with 0.67 as MacGyver went out low at 0.6.  NBC took third with 0.63 as Blindspot and Dateline delivered another consistent outing.

Does anyone recall the golden era when ABC ruled Friday nights?  No, not the TGIF glory days of 1988-97, but rather 2012-17.  This week, the network sits in 4th Place, again, with a 0.40 average as Once Upon a Time and 20/20 dropped to that embarrassing number.  And as for CW?  A week of windfalls as preliminary numbers average 0.2 ratings for Dynasty and Life Sentence.  At the least, CW is giving us a laugh with sitcom/soap Dynasty delivering laughs.  On a serious note, congratulations to the cast and crew of Dynasty for hanging in there and earning a renewal.  Bring viewers more laughs, and the ratings will rise.
