Hulu:
It was another week in which Hulu was sorely lacking fresh content, and so the few shows that did air were rewarded with strong chart rankings. 20/20 led the chart three days this week, twice after its regular Friday episode and once after a special Thursday airing of a special about UnitedHealthcare CEO murderer Luigi Mangione, a case that has captured massive national attention. Fellow ABC series General Hospital tied 20/20 for the most #1s on the Hulu chart this week, and again charted all seven days of the week. It wasn't the only daytime show on ABC to chart, as panel talk show The View made its first-ever appearance in the top fifteen, while morning news show Good Morning America charted for five days, and evening news show ABC World News Tonight charted three days. Shark Tank, one of the only other shows to air a new episode on ABC this week, charted for two days, while The Great Christmas Light Fight failed to make the list. High Potential also continued to impress, logging an appearance for six days of the last week despite last airing in early November. Abbott Elementary also charted for the entire week despite not airing this week. Fox had a limited schedule this week as well, but The Floor did air its finale, and it went to #1 on the chart, with The Masked Singer behind it. The Floor charted every day this week, and The Masked Singer charted for five. Bob's Burgers remained the strongest Fox cartoon, charting every day and peaking at #2, but for the first time, all four shows made the chart. The Simpsons charted five times, peaking at #6, while Krapopolis peaked at #9 and Universal Basic Guys just snuck into the chart at #15. A tacky, ill-advised TMZ Investigates special about Liam Payne charted twice, peaking at #7. FX's What We Do In the Shadows aired its series finale this week, and charted every day, peaking at a strong #2. FX's 2019 adaptation of A Christmas Carol also broke onto the chart for two days, as it prepares to leave Hulu on Sunday. Legendary comedy-drama Gilmore Girls was also added to the Hulu library this week, and charted three days, peaking at #5. Other highlights on Hulu included BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War and Love Island: Australia, which both peaked at #2 for the week.
Disney+:
The debut of another Disney+ original meant that, for the third week in a row, the streamer premiered a new original series, diversifying their offerings from the plethora of Disney movies and holiday classics that have been dominating their top ten chart. This week's entry, an extra-long Christmas episode of legendary show The Simpsons, did not go to #1 like the previous two originals did in their debut week, but it was the strongest TV show on Disney+ this week regardless, debuting at #2 and holding there the next day before dropping to #4 and then #6. This is a first of its kind airing for Fox's hit show, which has occasionally released 2-5 minute shorts on Disney+, but never a whole episode. If it was a test to see how the show would perform if they rescued it after a hypothetical Fox cancellation, it seemed to go over pretty well. It looked stronger than Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which also debuted a new episode this week and still only charted as high as #5. The latest Star Wars offshoot one charted for four days of the last week, worse than Inside Out spinoff Dream Productions, which released its full four-episode season on December 11, with no new episode this week. That show charted five times this week, dropping from #7 on Thursday to off the chart entirely by Friday. Those three were the only shows represented on the chart this week, with a preview of the new Mufasa movie being the only other item on the chart that isn't a full feature-length movie. That preview peaked at #3 for the week and has stayed in the top ten since its debut. The original 1994 Lion King and its 2019 remake both charted for the entire week, mostly at #9 and #10 yet again, though the original film went as high as #6 on Sunday. The rest of the chart mostly consisted of Christmas movies, including a full-week #1 sweep for Home Alone, with The Santa Clause, The Polar Express, Elf and The Nightmare Before Christmas all cracking the top ten this week.
Note: Disney+ is the only service not to provide a separate list for TV shows and movies. On this charts, movies are listed in bold.
Peacock:
It was a week of big change on Peacock, but one thing that didn't change was the leader of the chart: The Office remained in the top spot after first rising to the top spot at the end of last week. The beloved sitcom's return to #1 comes after the release of more "superfan" episodes, with extended cuts of episodes from the show's eighth season. Beyond The Office's domination, perhaps the most surprising development at Peacock this week was several titans of the service sliding out of the top ten, including every Dick Wolf show. Law & Order: SVU dropped from #2 to entirely off the chart within a single day, while all three Chicago shows also slid off the lsist after the third day of the week after previously charting consistently. Of course, we're now nearly a month removed from the most recent episodes of these shows, so it's hard to hold it against them for not charting anymore, especially when shows that have aired far more recently have been nowhere to be found for weeks. The disappearance of the Wolf shows made the Peacock chart look more like Bravo+ than anything, with Southern Charm, shows from the Real Housewives franchise and Sold on SLC all charting, as well as other reality shows like Love After Lockup and Peacock original Paris & Nicole: The Encore. Paris & Nicole actually debuted on Peacock the previous week, dropping all three of its episodes on December 12, but it didn't break onto the chart until December 18, and didn't hit its peak until December 19. Of course, Peacock's chart wasn't entirely made up of The Office and reality shows. Comedy breakout St. Denis Medical kept NBC's currently lineup represented, peaking at #4 for the week and charting for four days in all, keeping it by far the network's strongest comedy on streaming. Even with minimal competition from other NBC shows, Night Court failed to chart even once. A few scripted Peacock originals also made the chart, including new comedy Laid, which had a binge release this week and immediately rose to #2. The LDAy of The Jackal also peaked at #2, and charted every day for the week following its finale.Note: Peacock's top 10 chart updates throughout the day. Paramount+:
CBS is the only network that was still airing the majority of its lineup this week, and as such, plenty of shows from CBS still made the chart this week. Among them was NCIS, which topped the chart for four days of the last week and went no lower than #4 on the list. Its spinoff, NCIS: Origins, wasn't so lucky, and once again failed to chart at all. The other CBS show to lead the chart was Ghosts, which aired a two-episode Christmas episode this week and went straight to #1, much better than its #3 peak last week. It also charted for six days this week, up from five last week, and stayed at a strong #2 on Saturday. FBI also looked strong this week, peaking at #2, though it still only charted for two days, dropping to #8 the second day before leaving the chart. Its spinoffs again failed to chart, still not making a single appearance on the chart during their current seasons. The Neighborhood charted for the full week, peaking at #5. Blue Bloods, which ended last week, charted the first six days of the week before leaving the chart on Saturday, though possibly not forever, as it has regularly charted even in weeks that it hasn't aired. Survivor (at #5) and Elsbeth (at #9) both charted for a single day. Showtime's Dexter prequel Original Sins marked a very rare appearance on the list by a Showtime property, at #10 on Saturday. The launch of the spinoff also fueled interest in its parent show, with the original Dexter logging two appearances on the chart this week. Taylor Sheridan's empire remained in place, with Landman leading the chart for two days and charting every day of the week, while Tulsa King peaked as high as #2 despite ending weeks ago, and the also-ended Lioness going as high as #3, with both ended shows also charting for the entire week.Note: As with Peacock, Paramount+'s top 10 chart updates throughout the day. For consistency, all data collection is done daily at 11 AM.
Max:
Dune: Prophecy, just renewed for a second season, continued to top the Max charts this week, though it did so for only five days, down from six last week. This time, DC animated series Creature Commandos was the first show to beat the Dune spinoff, with The Sex Lives of College Girls returning to the top of the pack on Saturday. All three shows spent the entire week on the chart, with Sex Lives of College Girls only dropping as low as #4. Creature Commandos, on the other hand, slipped towards the bottom of the list, though #8 is still a respectable showing. Fellow Max original Bookie continued to look fairly mediocre, with the Chuck Lorre comedy charting for five of the last seven days and only peaking as high as #5. Fast Friends, a short-order game show testing superfans' knowledge of Max banner show Friends, debuted this week in celebration of the show's 30th anniversary. It's hard to get a gauge on its staying power, having premiered with only two days left in the week, but it's a solid start for a game show, especially one that's intended more to capitalize on a big anniversary than to have any sort of long-term run. With Christmas just around the corner, HBO aired very little this week besides Dune: Prophecy. The only other HBO original that aired this week was NFL docuseries Hard Knocks, which remained a solid entry and peaked at #2 on the chart. Ended comedy Somebody Somewhere also charted this week, with a 9-7-10 run at the start of the week before departing the chart, likely for the final time, on Wednesday. Food Network's Holiday Baking Champion wrapped for the season and looked solid, with a peak of #5, charting for five days in all. That's a bit weaker, though, than Harry Potter - Wizards of Baking, which also aired its finale this week, and peaked as high as #3, charting every day.Poll of the Week:
