ABC Renew/Cancel Week 8: Happy Xmas (Most Shows Renewed)

It's the final ABC Renew/Cancel of 2019, and that means it's time for a Christmas-themed ABC Renew/Cancel! Keep reading for my final calls on all of ABC's shows (until January, that is). Yule have a good time, I promise!

This Christmas, it's mostly a happy one for shows on ABC. Ratings are down, but most of ABC's shows have renewal predictions for now. Everything in the renewal category remains there this week. Despite Mixed-ish moving downwards this week, it remains a favorite for renewal. Its strong pedigree and its network seemingly believing in it should be enough to give it the gift of renewal in May, despite slipping to 0.5s. Every other network that appears likely to end up on the nice list is a veteran, and of those, only Bless This Mess is on notably shaky ground. A renewal for Mess is far from guaranteed, but as of right now its ad rates suggest an overperformance and it can hold on to its renewal prediction for now.

Christmas isn't quite as cheery for ABC's newbie dramas, as both are predicted to be canceled. While neither are the biggest flops this season, their ratings probably don't give ABC much joy. Also predicted to be pushed out are Schooled and Single Parents, both of which have factors working against them if ABC decides to get rid of more than just Modern Family and Fresh Off the Boat this season in the comedy department. Neither are particularly naughty, but they're underdogs at the moment.
