Writer's Block
1x04 - "No Jack and Jill"
By: Jessica Boggs
INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - DAY
JACK (23), with a laptop in hand, is working on a project.
JACK (V.O.)
Finally. Alone at last. I can work on this baseball show in peace.
All of a sudden, he sighs.
JACK (V.O.)
Okay, maybe this is not such a good idea.
JACK
Break time!
He searches for the remote.
JACK (V.O.)
I should just watch this. This sounds interesting, oh, wait! Tallahassee? That’s my favorite show!
Jack intently glances at the television.
CUT TO:
INT. NINTH FLOOR APARTMENT BUILDING HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
NOAH is pacing across the apartment building.
NOAH (V.O.)
Hmmm, I needed a break from Jack for a bit. I’m just going to go take a walk for a bit to see what is going on next.
Noah then walks to the elevator. He gets on the elevator.
CUT TO:
INT. FIRST FLOOR - CONTINUOUS
Noah then gets off the elevator and ends up at the first floor.
NOAH (V.O.)
What am I doing here?
Noah’s expression changes.
NOAH (V.O.)
Okay, don’t panic. Let’s look around for a bit.
Noah walks around. He then gets disgusted at the sight of the first floor. He then returns to the elevator.
CUT TO:
INT. NINTH FLOOR APARTMENT HALLWAY - A FEW MINUTES LATER
Noah gets off the elevator. He walks around.
NOAH
Did I just get lost?
He stops.
NOAH
Oh s***. I did.
Noah then walks around. He then finally breathes out a sigh of panic.
NOAH
What am I going to do now?
NOAH (V.O.)
This is ridiculous. How am I able to get back to my apartment now?
Noah then continues walking until he stops by JILL’s room. He then opens the door.
NOAH
Hello? Jill? Are you there?
There was no response.
NOAH
Jill?
Noah walks in.
CUT TO:
INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - TWO HOURS LATER
Jack has been busy watching Tallahassee for a couple of hours.
JACK (V.O.)
This is unfortunate. Why would they change the continuity of the story. Why would they mess with the characters? This is crazy! I wish I could create a show where this does not happen.
Jack looks up. He looks around.
JACK
Noah? Are you there?
There was no response. Jack starts panicking.
JACK
It is not like you to get lost, Noah.
CUT TO:
INT. NINTH FLOOR APARTMENT HALLWAY - FORTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER
Noah walks out of Jill’s room.
NOAH
Well, well, well.
He had a surprising grin on his face.
NOAH
Well, well, well, I found my apartment.
CUT TO:
INT. APARTMENT LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Jack wraps up another episode of Tallahassee, when he hears a knock on the door.
Jack then opens the door to reveal Noah.
NOAH
Did you realize that I got lost?
JACK
Yeah, I did.
NOAH
I realized that when I got to Jill’s apartment.
JACK
What happened?
NOAH
(smirks)
Jack then shrugs.
JACK
Okay. I didn’t need to know. Just glad you found your way back here.
