CBS made a surprise announcement Thursday night, announcing a renewal for likely to be cancelled Criminal Minds. The long running crime procedural will return for a fifteenth (and final) season, set to consist of only ten episodes. Upon its conclusion, Criminal Minds will have aired 325 episodes, and will cement itself as one of the longest running dramas in television history (based on seasons aired). Chalk this up as the first incorrect prediction for our charts so far this season.

In other news...
No show has gone back and forth between cancellation and renewal more so than God Friended Me, with it switching once again this week. Our last update saw the freshman drama as likely to be cancelled, but switched to likely to be renewed this week. Over the Christmas holiday, CBS aired a number of episodes of God Friended Me throughout the schedule, to varying results. In either case, God Friended Me returned with an 0.9 A18-49 last Sunday, growing ever so slightly from 60 Minutes. Last night, God Friended Me jumped 1 million viewers and grew two tenths from 60 Minutes. With two weeks of pretty solid results, God Friended Me is back to likely to be renewed.

New comedy series Fam got off to a strong start Thursday night, debuting with a 1.167, better than any result from Murphy Brown in the timeslot this season. Fam did have the benefit of a season-high Mom as a lead in, but still, this is a good start for a new CBS comedy. Like new series debuts earlier this season, freshman series will not get an official prediction until next week. It will be interesting to see if this holds strong like The Neighborhood, or if it begins to slowly bleed its audience. Come back next week to see where it lands on the charts.

What are your initial predictions for Fam? Were you surprised to see Criminal Minds renewed for another season? Sound off on those and other thoughts in the comments below!
