ABC sitcom Shifting Gears (0.35) appeared to be in good shape for its second season premiere, besting its finale rating (0.32) from March. Fellow comedy Abbott Elementary (0.29) had a softer return at 8:30, dropping slightly from where it left off (0.30). But any perceived Abbott shortcomings felt trivial when compared to the utter collapse of The Golden Bachelor (0.16, -0.12) at nine. The series fell from an already poor start and dragged Shark Tank (0.13, -0.07) down with it. On CBS, Survivor (0.59, -0.01) lost a hundredth, while The Amazing Race (0.25, +0.01) gained one. Chicago Med (0.36), Fire (0.39), and PD (0.34) all had respectable returns on NBC. The Floor (0.22, -0.03) slipped on Fox, but 99 to Beat (0.24, -0.52) grew from there.
