While the show is released on a streaming service, and therefore ratings data is unavailable, the show amassed a vocal fanbase online, with many praising its LGBTQ+ representation. It ranked as HBO Max's #1 show in Parrot Analytics' audience demand metric. Rhys Darby, Take Waititi, Samba Schutte, Ewen Bremner, Kristian Nairn, Samson Kayo, Nat Faxon, Zico Ortiz and Joel Fry make up part of the series' large ensemble cast.
