ABC Renew/Cancel - April 6: The Crossing is Likely to be Canceled

This week's edition comes a little late, in the early morning hours on Saturday instead of on Friday like usual. The Crossing gets its first prediction this week following its premiere on Monday night, while another new show's fate goes from likely to certain following an impressive performance.

The Crossing: While the premiere rating isn't terrible, 0.9 out of a 1.4 American Idol isn't very impressive, and with this being a premiere, it will likely go down significantly from here. I would predict that it is the least likely of unsuccessful midseason dramas Deception, The Crossing, and For the People to get renewed.

Splitting Up Together: ABC's new Tuesday comedy continued to impress in its second week, when its situation was not as strong as it was last week. With its lead-in Black-ish down to a 1.5, Splitting Up Together retained nearly all of that with a 1.4. With this strength, there is no way that this show doesn't return next season, so I have moved it to certain to be renewed.

Designated Survivor: With just how lucrative its streaming deals are being unknown, it's hard to say whether ABC will renew Designated Survivor or not. I'm sticking with renewal, but if it goes the other way, that could be good news for a freshman drama, as it is quite likely that ABC would want another drama on their schedule. Still, Designated Survivor remains likely to be renewed.
