ABC Renew/Cancel - April 13: Splitting Up Together is Certain to be Renewed

Now that all of the new shows this spring have premiered, it's time to evaluate all that ABC has as we head into the final weeks of the season, and most decisions coming within the next month (about four weeks away for the most part).

Format for predictions:
Show title (average 18-49 rating, season low-high)

Certain to be Canceled
Inhumans (0.6, 0.4-0.9)
Kevin Probably Saves the World (0.7, 0.4-1.0)

Likely to be Canceled
Alex, Inc. (1.0, 0.9-1.1)
The Crossing (0.9, 0.8-0.9)
For the People (0.7, 0.6-0.9)

Toss-Up
Deception (0.8, 0.7-1.2)

Likely to be Renewed
Agents of SHIELD (0.6, 0.5-0.7)
Designated Survivor (0.7, 0.6-1.1)
Fresh Off the Boat (1.0, 0.9-1.4)
Speechless (1.2, 0.9-1.4)
Station 19 (1.1, 1.0-1.2)

Certain to be Renewed
American Housewife (1.2, 1.0-1.6)
Black-ish (1.2, 0.9-2.6)
Grey's Anatomy (2.0, 1.7-2.3)
How to Get Away with Murder (1.0, 0.8-1.1)
Splitting Up Together (1.6, 1.2-2.1)

Splitting Up Together: As it has continued to stay close to its lead-in Black-ish, retaining much of its audience despite that being boosted by Roseanne at the beginning of the night, Splitting Up Together remains an obvious renewal. The success of Tuesdays this spring may even cause ABC to expand in comedy hours next season. We will see in May what happens there.

Deception: As the performances of The Crossing and For the People have gotten weaker, I have upgraded Deception to a toss-up. I think there is a possibility that ABC will want to renew one of the three shows, especially if the financials don't work out for Designated Survivor, or if their drama pilots aren't as strong as they hoped. Additionally, the stronger lead-in that Deception will be getting for an upcoming Tuesday airing, a Roseanne rerun marathon rather than reruns of the usual Tuesday comedy line-up, may be an indication of network support.
