Backorders for freshman series have become something of a rarity in recent seasons, with the strike limiting all series last season and several shows this season receiving extended orders before they even premiered. However, the practice isn't dead entirely, with CBS ordering nine more episodes of freshman comedy Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, their Young Sheldon spinoff that currently rates as TV's #1 comedy and #2 scripted series. Its current 0.50 average is just three hundredths below Young Sheldon's average. The series, which features Montana Jordan and Emily Osment reprising their Young Sheldon roles as the titular stars, debuted less than two weeks ago. CBS has been quick to make decisions on their new series so far, having renewed Matlock a week ago after only two episodes, though no public decisions have been made yet on full seasons for their two other freshman series, NCIS: Origins and Poppa's House.
