The Simpsons (0.61, +0.38) was demoted to 8:30 for the night but still set a new season high. As usual, the boost largely wore off by the time 9 p.m. comedies Bob's Burgers (0.42, +0.18) and Krapopolis (0.30, +0.16) rolled around. On CBS, 60 Minutes (0.51, +0.04) picked up a few ticks, while Tracker (0.49, -0.05) declined from last week's premiere. Later in the evening, The Equalizer (0.34) tied its series low in its season premiere. On NBC, the Jets/Steelers NFL game (4.39) was nearly three-tenths higher than the Bengals/Giants game from last week. America's Funniest Home Videos (0.28, +0.04) improved on ABC. Movie Hocus Pocus (0.20) and special Bruce Springsteen: Backstage and Backstreets (0.13) dipped from there. The Chosen (0.03, -0.02) slipped on the CW. Key: (P) = premiere. (R) = repeat.
