Despite returning much weaker than it had seemed to be in the previous spring this fall, Speechless showed that it wasn't that weak once the new year came around. However, it had received a shortened episode order this season so that ABC could fit more comedies onto their schedule in the spring. This made the show's fate quite unclear. With this renewal, ABC's comedy line-up is quite crowded, leading one to wonder if they will expand to another night when the fall schedule is announced. We will find out soon.
