ABC experienced changes at the end of 1984 as their entire lineup struggled. EDGE lost too much ground and was cancelled after nearly 29 seasons on December 28. Prior to this change, ABC flip-flopped RH and Loving to allow the newer to grow, resulting in damage to RH as it had half of the viewers it did three seasons earlier
ABC's fortunes reversed as AMC and OLTL nearly shed a point. CBS also experienced losses, though not to the same magnitude. Only Loving and SB experienced mild growth, and the NBC lineup either held steady or ticked up.
