1986-87 Soap Ratings

Written by Bridger Cunningham

The middle of the season experienced changes for the lineup, as SFT bowed out in December 1986.  Elsewhere, CBS decided to spruce up the lineup and oust modestly-rated Capitol, which was losing ground fast.  CBS revamped the lineup by bumping ATWT back 30 minutes to allow new soap The Bold and the Beautiful to develop behind the network's strongest soap in March 1987.

The hemorrhages continued this season as only NBC held strong.  ABC lost ground with AMC and OLTL, Loving began to trickle downward and RH tunneled beneath the 3.0 mark, now the last place soap come January.
