ABC was trouncing NBC and CBS in the ratings, and CBS decided to revamp the lineup in February. Y&R was its strongest contender, so the network decided to expand it to 60 minutes and move it to 1:00. In order to accommodate, ATWT and GL bumped back one hour. and after 29 years, Love of Life left the air.
GH's popularity continued to soar as it gained another 1.8 points and pushed past All My Children into 1st place. ATWT continued continued to plunge despite its neighbors gaining. NBC contunued to tunnel downward.
