Extended Family's stay on NBC is not being extended. NBC has canceled the sitcom after a single season. It's the first freshman NBC comedy to be denied a second season since 2020's Connecting, a pandemic-era placeholder that was pulled from the schedule after just four episodes. The series averaged 0.28 in the key 18-49 demo - higher than the renewed Lopez vs Lopez, though it also had an NFL-inflated premiere, which Lopez did not. Setting Extended Family apart from Lopez was the fact that it was only partially owned by NBC, being a co-production with Lionsgate. Jon Cryer, Abigail Spencer and Donald Faison starred in the series, which ran for thirteen episodes and wrapped its one and only season on March 26.
