Hulu:
It's been several months since Hulu has aired an original comedy series, but one of their most successful ones returned this month, a bit over a year after its fourth season premiered. Its return has been solid, but it was unable to knock Alien: Earth off the top spot this week. Only Murders peaked at #2 on Hulu's chart this week, spending three days there, after debuting at #4 with only a partial day of streaming. While Only Murders failed to knock Alien: Earth from the top spot, two other shows achieved it. First was Betrayal, an ABC News docuseries. It had spent several days on the chart in the days leading up to its sole day atop the chart, and ended the week by dropping down to ninth place. The other show to topple Alien: Earth was Project Runway, which last topped the chart a few weeks ago. Prior to topping the chart on Saturday, Project Runway had one of the weaker weeks of the season so far, dipping to a season-low thirteenth place on Thursday and spending only three days in the top five. ABC had little to offer Hulu this week, as several of their summer shows didn't air this week and the tipoff of their fall season is still a week away. Bachelor in Paradise, despite ending last week, was still among their best-performing primetime series. It charted five days this week before departing the chart. 20/20 looked even better, peaking at #3 and charting the whole week. Match Game ended its season with one day on the chart at #12. Celebrity Family Feud returned from its weeks-long hiatus and charted at #11. Daytime soap General Hospital remained a strong performer, peaking at #3 this week. The View charted a single day as it returned from its summer break, and Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight also made appearances on the chart. Fox had several chart entries of their own. Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service ended its first season, and pulled ahead of MasterChef for the first time in months, though that was in large part due to MasterChef airing a recap episode this week. The 1% Club looked solid enough, charting two days and peaking at #7. LEGO Masters Jr. and The Quiz with Balls both charted for one day, outside of the top ten. Hulu original The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox charted between fourth and sixth all week.
Disney+:
This was an exciting week on Disney+. Things started out looking fairly sleepy and status quo, with Lilo & Stitch storming to victory each day, and Thunderbolts just behind. Then, for the first time since the inception of the Disney+ list roughly ten months ago, the streamer finally provided separate lists for their TV shows and films. From this point forward, this column will be addressing only the TV series chart. This means that gone are the days where only two, one, or even zero series charted at all on Disney+ in a given week. In the first three days of this new TV chart, Alien: Earth was the undisputed heavyweight champion of Disney+, matching its Hulu performance. Just behind it was Only Murders in the Building, while fellow Hulu original The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox charted within the top five the rest of the week. Also performing well were Korean drama Tempest, which rose as high as #3 on the chart, a collection of Disney+-original Zootopia shorts, and Marvel miniseries Ironheart. ABC's High Potential charted all three days that the TV chart was available, as it prepares to return from hiatus in just a few weeks. LEGO Masters Jr. made a brief return to the Disney+ chart in its final week. The 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks pushed a National Geographic documentary about the attacks onto the chart for a day. Andor also charted for one day.
Note: Through the middle part of this week, Disney+ was the only service not to provide a separate list for TV shows and movies. On this chart, movies are listed in bold.
Peacock:
It was another strong week for The Paper, as the Office spinoff topped Peacock's chart for the entire week. The past few months have not exactly been a banner few months for scripted series on Peacock, but The Paper is still the strongest scripted series we've seen on Peacock since SVU ended its previous season. As such, most of the other top performers on Peacock this week were reality shows - most from Bravo. Below Deck and Real Housewives of Orange County shared the #2 spot this week, while Real Housewives of Miami, Oxygen's Snapped and Buried in the Backyard, Peacock's Love Island USA and NBC's America's Got Talent and Dateline joined The Paper on the chart this week. Making their Peacock chart debuts this week were classic game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, with Peacock having recently acquired rights to stream recent episodes of the classic series. Jeopardy! was the better performer of the two, but Wheel was solid itself, with both charting five days. USA's The Rainmaker continued to chart, this time doing so for the entire week and peaking at #3. Twisted Metal ended a few weeks ago, and is now starting got show it in its streaming performance. It dipped from #3 at the start of the week to #10 by week's end.Note: Peacock's top 10 chart updates throughout the day. For consistency, all data collection is done daily at 2 PM.
Paramount+:
NCIS: Tony & Ziva has had a strong opening on Paramount+, but South Park is still the undisputed champion of the streamer at this juncture. The long-running cartoon didn't air this week, but was still #1 on Paramount+ for six days. Tony & Ziva was #1 for that other day, and was in the top five for the entire week. Big Brother peaked at #3 this week, holding there for three consecutive days, and it dipped to eighth at its lowest point. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ended its third season this week, charting five days and peaking at #5. Dexter: Resurrection left the chart after making three appearances this week, while its parent series remains on the chart still. Paramount+ original Criminal Minds remains on the chart as well, while Tulsa King made two appearances on the chart. NCIS was the only CBS series that's either on hiatus or ended to chart for the entire week, while Blue Bloods charted six days and Survivor charted for four.
Note: As with Peacock, Paramount+'s top 10 chart updates throughout the day. For consistency, all data collection is done daily at 2 PM.
HBO Max:
Peacemaker had new competition on HBO Max this week, but its performance on the chart was actually a bit better than last week. John Cena's DC Comics series was #1 four days this week (the same as last week), but its worst showing was spending a single day at #3 on the chart. Last week, it was #4 for a few days, so this is a small, but noticeable, improvement on that. The days that weren't topped by Peacemaker were topped by new HBO series Task, starring Mark Ruffalo. The series was #1 three days this week, dropping to #2 the last two days of the week. Its premiere was enough to push one of HBO's most popular miniseries in recent memory, Mare of Easttown, back onto the chart - both series are the creation of writer Brad Ingelsby, and the connection was a focal point of Task's promo campaign. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was back for a week (and is off again next week already), peaking at #2 and charting six days of this week, only missing Sunday. Real Time with Bill Maher remained solid, but weaker than its fellow HBO talk series, charting four days and peaking at #3. Hard Knocks ended its season last week, and therefore slipped off the chart after three appearances this week. Rick & Morty remained strong this week, not dipping below fourth on the chart. The remainder of the chart was comprised of unscripted cable series, such as the 90 Day Fiancé series, Evil Lives Here, Welcome to Plathville and Most Wanted: Teen Hacker.
