Setting: Phone call with MANNY, the affiliate manager at RSN Santa Fe. BENNY takes the lead on the call.
BENNY
Manny, we have good news.
MANNY
You’re getting rid of us so we can do what we want for once?
BENNY
Well…no, not exactly. We’re raising your budget.
MANNY
That’s not what we wanted at all! Your Primitives are a lost cause, we’d be way better off on our own airing cheaper stuff.
BENNY
Listen, you’re getting a bigger budget and if you’re not at a 2 by the end of next year, we’ll reevaluate.
MANNY
That’s what you said going into this year.
TREVOR
Next year you’ll have streaming viewership on RSN+. I really think we’ll get there.
BENNY
And that extra money won’t hurt.
MANNY
I suppose. But if you don’t help us next year, we’re out for sure.
MANNY hangs up.
BENNY
My work here is done.
DEVIN INTERVIEW
I didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news while Benny was in good spirits but…they were all so busy with Santa Fe I think I’m the only one who actually saw the latest ratings report. They’re not gonna be happy once they find out.
