UNION CAFETERIA - DAY
Andrew and
Edison sit at a table. Andrew and Edison both have food but Andrew is the only
one eating. Edison appears glum.
ANDREW
Just
apologize. Say you were an idiot.
EDISON
You weren’t
there Andrew. It was awful. I said horrible things.
ANDREW
So make it
right.
EDISON
It’s over
Andrew. I blew it.
ANDREW
If you say so.
Hey, don’t forget, we have that meeting with the leasing office to look at some
apartments. Once we find one we like, we sign some papers. After that, we will
officially have a place of our own.
EDISON
Right.
ANDREW
C’mon. Our own
place. Think of the parties we could potentially have.
EDISON
Parties with
alcohol?
ANDREW
Flowing with
it.
Sarah appears
and takes a seat at the table.
SARAH
Hey.
ANDREW
Hey.
SARAH
{To Edison}
Have you
talked to Brittaney?
EDISON
No.
SARAH
First she
thinks you cheated on her and now you accuse her of being with Paul.
EDISON
I misread the
situation.
SARAH
Yes, you did.
EDISON
Have you
talked to her?
SARAH
Just twice.
She called you an asshole and then she started crying and then she consoled
herself saying that she was better off without you.
ANDREW
Was that last
part really necessary?
EDISON
Ughhhhhhh.
ANDREW
Everything
will be fine. You and Brittaney will work things out. Now, how about we go find
our new bachelor pad?
SARAH
Bachelor pad?
EDISON
Our apartment.
SARAH
You’re getting
an apartment?
ANDREW
Yeah. Dorm was
getting a little too small. We're looking at some units today and hopefully
fill out some applications.
SARAH
Can I come?
ANDREW
Why?
SARAH
Calvin’s
visiting his sister and I actually don’t have homework. Besides, I think you’ll
need my help choosing a decent place.
ANDREW
Well ok then.
I’m sure we could use a woman’s touch.
INT. APARTMENT
1 - DAY
Andrew,
Edison, and Sarah stand in a worn down apartment.
ANDREW
I think it’s
pretty good.
EDISON
Feels homey.
SARAH
There’s a
Raccoon nest in the window sill and I don’t even want to know what those stains
on the walls are.
ANDREW
They add to
the rustic look.
Edison fills
his water bottle with water and starts drinking it.
SARAH
Do you mean
rusty look cause when I turned on the water, actual rust came out.
Edison spits
the water out.
INT. APARTMENT
2 - DAY
Andrew and
Sarah stand in a decent apartment.
ANDREW
This is a nice
place.
EDISON
I second that.
SARAH
Yeah, I think
this is the place.
There is a
knock at the door and Edison answers it. It is an older couple.
MAN
We noticed
y’all looking at the apartment. Moving in?
EDISON
I think so. We
love the place.
WOMAN
Y’all like to
swing?
Andrew and
Sarah look at each other.
EDISON
Well, I haven’t
swung since elementary school but if they have swings here, I wouldn’t mind
giving them a try.
Andrew and
Sarah grab Edison and the three leave.
INT. APARTMENT
3 - DAY
Andrew,
Edison, and Sarah enter the final apartment. It is nice and big and white and
grey with a nice kitchen and a big living room.
EDISON
This is it. I
can feel it. Kegs over there. Snacks over here.
ANDREW
Our own
private rooms.
SARAH
Uh guys, this
is a nice apartment but it’s also a three bedroom. Also, it’s pretty expensive.
ANDREW
It’s the
nicest apartment we’ve seen today. We did the math it's a little over budget
but we can afford it. Plus our parents are paying for the majority of it.
SARAH
What about the
third bedroom?
ANDREW
We can use it
for guests.
EDISON
I’m gonna go
talk to the front office about leasing papers.
Edison leaves.
Andrew’s phone goes off and he looks at it. He chuckles.
SARAH
What?
ANDREW
Gabby’s
volunteering at this animal adoption event. She sent me a photo of a puppy.
SARAH
So you two are
still dating?
ANDREW
Yeah.
SARAH
You love her?
ANDREW
Well I haven’t
found the right moment to tell her that but yeah. I do.
SARAH
That’s good.
I’m happy for you.
ANDREW
Thanks. Hey,
maybe we can do a double date with you and Calvin.
SARAH
Uhhhhhhh yeah.
Sure. I’m sure he’d go for that.
Andrew smiles
at Sarah.
SARAH
I’m glad we
can be friends.
ANDREW
Me too.
Sarah gives
Andrew a painful smile.
