Don’t Forget the Lyrics: This show has had an odd schedule this season, first premiering at 9 behind I Can See Your Voice before moving to 8 for doubled-up episodes a few weeks into its season. It hasn't consistently aired in back-to-back weeks since the start of June, cycling back and forth between airing two originals and two repeats every other week. It's an incredibly weird way to air a show, but the show has been pretty resilient, averaging 0.23 for the season over all and never going below that average since Fox started this inconsistent scheduling. That's a small rise from last season, when it aired on Tuesdays. It's also smack dab in the middle of Fox's summer scheduling slate, behind only MasterChef and The Quiz with Balls. Among the music-centric game shows, it ties Beat Shazam (which has looked weaker than it lately, especially as it airs all of its episodes at 8) and beats the already-renewed Name That Tune. It's far from a hit, but it looks slid by Fox's standards, and it's rating higher than many of their in-season shows, including five of their renewed scripted originals. Considering how low standards have gotten for Fox shows as of late, and how consistent it has rated over three-season run (this season is averaging just seven hundredths below its freshman season from 2022), it looks pretty safe for a slot on next summer's lineup. It's a LIKELY RENEWAL.

Claim to Fame: It was a rough week last week for Claim to Fame, getting moved to 10 at short notice due to President Biden's address and thus falling to a 0.22, a new series low. Due to those unusual circumstances, I won't really be taking last week's showing into consideration for its renewal chances. If it stays on that level when it returns to its regular slot, then it may be in a bit of trouble, but I'm not that worried so far. In its second episode, it had one of its best performances ever with a 0.30 out of a 0.38 from Millionaire, holding nearly 80% of its lead-in for its first episode against Big Brother, a show that probably has a similar audience base to Claim to Fame. Claim to Fame is still not some sort of summer smash, it'll never be on the level of Big Brother or America's Got Talent, but it looks good enough for renewal so far, better than it did after its premiere. I still think ABC could discard it, as they've done with several summer series with acceptable ratings (Holey Moley, The Hustler and Match Game come to mind; the fate of the solidly-rated Generation Gap is also up in the air and it may well join them), but it's doing well enough for a LEANS RENEWAL prediction.

Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars: Last week, Food Stars capped off an unimpressive second season run with an unimpressive 0.16 in the key demo for a two-hour finale. While it didn't have its compatible MasterChef lead-in this week, it still had a 0.27 lead-in from the president's address, and it held less than 60% of that lead-in. Dropping 40% of its lead-in has been pretty typical for the show this season, though, so this is far from. a surprise. The show wasn't all that strong last season, but it still never went below a 0.19 in the demo, while that 0.19 was the high-water mark this season. It was a terrible season for this show, and even among a weak summer landscape, it really stood out for its poor ratings. Beginning this week, Fox will replace it with repeats of Beat Shazam. Last season, repeats of Food Stars aired regularly on Sundays, so it's not as if they're unfamiliar with repeating this show. This season, though, it hasn't been repeated anywhere, save for the week that both it and MasterChef took off before their July 4th holiday. Fox no longer seems nearly as high on this show as they were last season, and its ratings gave them no reason to be. It LEANS CANCELLATION, though if this weren't a Ramsay show, I'm fairly sure I'd have it in a harsher category.
