Schooled: Last week, ABC announced backorders for Bless This Mess (and American Housewife, which wasn't previously announced to have an order below 22 episodes). That is not good news for Schooled. Not necessarily because the two are fighting for slots, but because Schooled is the only ABC fall comedy that hasn't gotten a backorder yet that didn't already have more than 13 episodes. While it could have received 22 episodes from the start, that's very unusual for sophomore shows that premiered in midseason, and production dates (August - September) seem to confirm it was only thirteen episodes. Underperforming its ad rates, not being fully owned, and only having decent retention of its ultra-compatible lead-in are all likely contributing factors to this show being capped at 13 episodes. It's now a LIKELY CANCELLATION.

Emergence: Last week, ABC aired The Little Mermaid Live in place of its usual comedy lineup, drawing a massive 2.6 rating. Behind it was Emergence, which saw a two-tenth bump to 0.7. That on its own would probably not warrant a downgrade. However, the show dropped all the way to 0.5 by the end of the broadcast, in-line with what it was doing with a much lower lead-in. It's a serialized show, and I didn't expect it to make massive gains, but that 0.5 is horrendous. It's clear that a 0.5 is the best ABC will see from this show, and that there's nothing they could do to save it. It's already been capped at 13 episodes, and that's going to be all it gets. It's a CERTAIN CANCELLATION.

Fresh Off the Boat: After I upgraded the show just last week, ABC announced on Friday that Fresh Off The Boat would end after six seasons this February. I always saw the show as one of the more likely cancellations on ABC this season, and I ended up being correct in that presumption, even with last week's promotion.

What do you think of my predictions? Let me know in the comments below and don't forget to vote in the poll of the week!
