The Bullpen Season 2 Episode 17: The First Game

CAST
Kurt: long-term reliever
Lorenzo: middle relief pitcher
Jason: left-handed specialist
Robert: 8th inning pitcher/setup man
Bryan: closer
Eli: various relief positions
Garry: Bullpen coach

Garry: Everyone listen up. This is our first game together. I've never coached before. None of you have ever pitched in a big-league game before. We're not all experts in this, but along the way, we'll learn. We all know the starting pitchers on this team are really good, but you're also really good pitchers, I assume.
Jason: Not really.
Kurt: Yeah I'm not sure why I'm here.
Bryan: I figure that I'm on the team as some statement that they don't need any bullpen pitchers.
Eli: I'm a terrible pitcher.
Robert: I'm also pretty bad.
Lorenzo: Robert, I've pitched with you on different teams for years. You're not that bad. At least compared to me.
Garry: Alright then that settles it, you all suck. But, try to pretend not to, for the sake of your salary. Anyways, let's see if we can agree on some rules. No napping, no playing games, and no laziness.
Lorenzo: Sounds easy enough. It's not like this place is fully stocked with food and a high-tech bench.
Bryan: Yeah, wouldn't that be crazy?
Jason: I would assume if those things were actually here it would be because we were All-Star pitchers.
Kurt: I just had the craziest thought: us at an All-Star game.
Lorenzo: Could you imagine? What next, me giving out autographs? One of us becoming a starting pitcher?
Garry: Let's not get ridiculous now guys.
Eli: Alright, let's watch the game. First pitch is about to come!
Bryan: That looks like it was hit far...nope, out!
Eli: That was one of our guys.
Bryan: Oh. How was I supposed to know that?
Eli: They're wearing the same uniform as we are. That'd be a start.
Bryan: Yeah, I guess you're right.
Jason: I'm getting kind of bored.
Kurt: Yeah, me too.
Garry: Fine, you don't have to pay attention to the game for now. But don't expect that to always be the case.
Robert: I'm gonna go look around the stadium.
Lorenzo: Me too. Heard they have good cotton candy here.
Robert: I don't think cotton candy changes by ballpark.
Lorenzo: Exactly. All cotton candy is good. That's just a fact.
Robert: If you say so. I'll be back for the 6th or 7th or 8th inning, maybe.
Kurt: I'm gonna start warming up. Can never do that too early.
Bryan: Good idea, I'll catch.
Jason: Eli, you want to make bets on who will get a hit and who won't?
Eli: Of course I do!
Garry: Guys, look toward home plate.
Jason: Is that Lorenzo?
Kurt: Looks like it.
Robert: Why is he yelling at the umpire?
Garry: No clue. But I think we've learned two things: always watch the game, and don't let anyone leave the bullpen unless they're pitching.
Eli: I think that second one is on you.
Kurt: It's gonna be a long month, isn't it?
Bryan: Month? We probably won't last a week as a group.
