Summer Renew/Cancel - August 26: The Night Shift is Still Likely to be Renewed

The Olympics have ended, and the summer has gotten quite boring. Zoo was renewed, leaving only six shows with their fates undecided. As a result, I have decided to only post two editions of summer renew/cancel following the Olympics, this being the first of those two. The second will be on September 16. This is to ensure that these posts aren't too boring.

Format for predictions:
Show title (network) (average 18-49 rating, season low-season high)

Certain to be Canceled
American Gothic (CBS) (0.5, 0.4-0.7)
Aquarius (NBC) (0.4, 0.4-0.4)
BrainDead (CBS) (0.4, 0.3-0.7)
Mistresses (ABC) (0.6, 0.4-0.8)

Likely to be Canceled
Wayward Pines (FOX) (0.7, 0.7-0.9)

Toss-Up

Likely to be Renewed
The Night Shift  (NBC) (1.0, 0.8-1.2)

Certain to be Renewed

Fate Determined
Beauty and the Beast (CW) FINAL SEASON
Houdini & Doyle (FOX) CANCELED
Uncle Buck (ABC) CANCELED
Zoo (CBS) RENEWED

The Night Shift: While its retention from America's Got Talent hasn't been particularly impressive, it got similar ratings with other lead-ins this year. Really, it seems that what affects how well or poorly The Night Shift does is if it airs for one or two hours. When it airs for two hours, it does poorly.

Zoo: While its ratings aren't impressive, it has remained the highest rated of CBS's three summer dramas. As a result, it was no surprise to me that it was renewed, which I predicted.

Mistresses: Without The Bachelorette, the show has taken a hit, and fell to as low as 0.5 up against the Olympics.

American Gothic: The show dropped a tenth during the Olympics, and went back up without it. Still, too low to be renewed.

BrainDead: The good news is that this show remained even with its first Sunday airing during the Olympics. The bad news is that number is 0.3, which is bad even for Sundays at 10:00.
