Another week has passed, and it was a week with few notable debuts on streaming, as the rich just got richer. Keep reading to see how things shook out on the Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+ and HBO Max charts this week!
Hulu:
It was another strong week on Hulu for Alien: Earth. The FX sci-fi drama topped Hulu's chart for six days of the last week. The only show to knock it off the top spot was a bit of a surprise: ABC daytime soap General Hospital. It's the first time in nearly a month that GH hit #1 on Hulu, and another reminder of just how impressive the show has looked on Hulu this summer, at a time where few ABC shows are populating the Hulu charts. Of ABC's other series, Bachelor in Paradise did the best this week. It peaked at #2 on the chart, dropping as low as #6 at its worst point. A special about Bruce Willis and his wife Emma did pretty well on the chart, heartily out-performing ABC's game shows and peaking at #3 on the chart. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Match Game both matched their performances of the last two weeks, charting at #12 and #13 for one day, respectively. ABC World News Tonight charted four days this week. Fox's best performer this week was MasterChef, which peaked at #4 on the chart, and charted six days. Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service continued to perform a bit worse, peaking at #7 and charting five days. Both Ramsay cooking series performed better than the rest of the Fox lineup. The Quiz with Balls charted just a single day at #11, while The 1% Club and The Snake both managed to crack the top ten at least (at #8 and #9, respectively) for their single day of charting. LEGO Masters Jr. was absent from the chart completely, in just its second week on the air. Hulu debuted the entire season of new Freeform reality series Love Thy Nader this week, to middling success. It peaked at just #6 on the chart, and spent three of the last four days at #9. It's not a terrible debut, but it's not as strong as we've seen for similar celebrity-focused reality series in the past. Fellow Freeform series Project Runway looked a whole lot better, peaking at #2 and charting the entire week, only once slipping out of the top ten. FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ended its run last week, and therefore departed the Hulu charts three days into his week. Hulu's true crime drama The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox spent five days of the last week at #2 on the chart and charted throughout the week, while an ABC interview of Knox charted the first three days of the week. The streamer's King of the Hill revival charted five days this week, slipping off the chart for the first time since its premiere. The Bear returned to the chart for a single day. In the world of true crime documentaries, Ruby Red Handed and Stalking Samantha both charted well, peaking at #3 and #4, respectively.Disney+:
The biggest entry on the Disney+ chart this week was the streaming debut of Marvel film Thunderbolts. It was added to the service on August 27, and debuted straight at #1 the next day, holding that spot since. Before the film's addition to Disney+, there was an eclectic collection of movies and shows topping the Disney+ chart. Rio started out at #1, continuing a strong few weeks of streaming for the Blue Sky Studios cartoon. It slipped down the chart the next few days and was off the chart entirely by Thursday. On Monday, The Emperor's New Groove topped the chart. It was one of only two chart appearances by the film this week. LEGO Disney Princess: Villains Unite was #1 the next two days. Those were the only two days that the half-hour LEGO animated special charted. There weren't too many shows on the Disney+ chart this week, with Alien: Earth performing the best of them. The series charted the entire week, peaking at #2. A National Geographic documentary about rhino conservation charted three days, and ABC's Emma and Bruce Willis special charted three days, performing no worse on Disney+ than it did on Hulu. Hulu original The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox charted five days. Films spending multiple days on the chart included Freaky Friday, Ice Age, The Parent Trap, Eenie Meenie, and Pocahontas.
Note: Disney+ is the only service not to provide a separate list for TV shows and movies. On this chart, movies are listed in bold.
Peacock:
That '70s Show had an odd week on Peacock. After falling off the chart at the end of last week, it was back at #1 to start the week and nearly swept the top spot until Saturday, when again plunged out the top 10. It was replaced at #1 by Twisted Metal, which also topped the charts when That '70s Show slipped off the #1 spot last week. Twisted Metal spent much of th week at #2, but unlike last week, it didn't spend the entire week there. That was because Peacock aired the anticipated reunion special of the latest season of Love Island USA, which pushed the show back onto the charts, spending two days at #2. It dropped to #3 after that, and ended the week at #4. Beyond the Villa, focusing on the competitors from last year's season of Love Island, spent the entire week in the top ten, rising as high as #3. NBC had only two shows on the Peacock chart this week, with Dateline NBC charting the entire week and America's Got Talent charting four times. Several Bravo series made the Peacock chart this week, with Real Housewives of Orange County and Below Deck both charting the entire week and Real Housewives of Miami charting five days. Oxygen's Snapped and E!'s The McBee Dynasty also charted this week. USA legal drama The Rainmaker charted four days this week peaking at #3.
Note: Peacock's top 10 chart updates throughout the day. For consistency, all data collection is done daily at 2 PM.
Paramount+:
There wasn't much change on Paramount+'s chart this week. South Park remained the top series on the streamer even as it took a week off. The buzzy Comedy Central cartoon has had a remarkable season on streaming not leaving the top spot since it returned at the end of July. Also performing well despite not airing this week was Criminal Minds, which aired its finale at the beginning of July, but still managed to rise as high as #2 on the Paramount+ chart, of course sticking around for the entire week. Dexter: Resurrection had a solid enough week charting five days and peaking at #2, very similar to last week's performance. Its parent series remained on the chart the entire week despite ending over ten years ago, with the latest revival season leading to a spark of new interest in the long-running Showtime hit. Speaking of long-running hits, CBS's summer reality staple Big Brother has also had quite a strong season on streaming, coinciding with a dominant ratings performance on linear TV. It peaked at #2 this week, and charted the entire week. To no surprise, its best performances were always the day after each new episode aired. Star Trek: Strange New World improved on its performances from the last few weeks, peaking at #5 on the chart and charting six days in all. CBS Sunday Morning charted on Sunday again. NCIS was the only CBS series currently on hiatus to chart throughout the week, while Survivor managed six appearances and Ghosts charted twice. Blue Bloods, which is set to debut a spinoff in just over a month, charted all seven days this week, and the long-ended CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond charted for a day.
Note: As with Peacock, Paramount+'s top 10 chart updates throughout the day. For consistency, all data collection is done daily at 2 PM.
HBO Max:
It was Peacemaker's first full week of its second season, and it failed to perform as well as it could've. There's no major competition on HBO at the moment, but Peacemaker "only" topped HBO Max's chart four days this week, dipping to third on one occasion. That's no worse than The Gilded Age or And Just Like That, but those two were both seemingly-strong scripted series, while Peacemaker's top competition is Hard Knocks. The NFL docuseries topped the HBO Max chart twice this week, the same as last week. It stayed in the top five all week, dropping to fourth at its worst point. That's a clear improvement on last week, when it dropped as low as sixth. Crime documentary series The Yogurt Shop Murders ended its run this week, and hit #1 on the chart for a day, its first and only time topping the chart. Real Time with Bill Maher tied its best showing of the season, hitting #2 on the chart. It charted two days this week, as it takes a one-week break. The Gilded Age and And Just Like That both ended their third seasons, but remained on the chart for the entire week, with The Gilded Age charting as high as #5 at the end of the week. Back to the Frontier ended its first season this week, charting three days and peaking at third on the chart. Unscripted cable series like the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, Welcome to Plathville, A Killer Among Friends and Evil Lives Here all charted this week.
