The annual summer tradition has returned, as Discovery Channel has brought back its week-long celebration of sharks for a 37th year, having first begun in 1988 and continued every year since. Ratings have been on the lower side in recent years, with the 2024 edition clocking in at a 0.15 average - about 40% lower than 2023. With roughly half of the week's ratings in so far, Shark Week 2025 is down over 30%. It has repeatedly matched its all-time 18-49 demo low of 0.07 this year, but has thus far avoided matching its all-time viewership low set in 2024 (0.29 million).
