The Challenge: USA: Since my first write-up of the show a few weeks ago, The Challenge: USA has remained extremely stable, with a range of just 0.04 between its season high and season low. That is despite some less-than-ideal scheduling moves - not only is the show airing at 10 PM on Thursdays, it's also been hit by large delays when airing in its earlier slot on Sundays. Its 0.30 average isn't all that impressive, but for the dead of summer, CBS can definitely live with it. It does have summer's highest-rated show as its lead-in, which is certainly seen as a big asset for it, but Big Brother hasn't been all that beneficial as a lead-in in the past, so holding on to about half of it isn't too bad - especially compared to the tragic performance that Superfan is putting up on Wednesdays. It LEANS RENEWAL, but an argument could be made for Likely Renewal. It's earned a place on CBS's summer 2024 schedule.
The Bachelorette: ABC's highest-rated summer show wrapped its run last week. After a disastrous start, the show rebounded later in the season, especially once it moved back to 8 PM. While this was at the expense of Claim to Fame, it was certainly the smart move if their goal was to protect The Bachelorette. ABC remains devoted to this show, and this franchise, which is the centerpiece of their reality-packed fall schedule. The show rallied to a 0.6 on finale night - the highest rating for any show on ABC this summer. While its ratings declined markedly this season, it's obviously not going anywhere. It remains a CERTAIN RENEWAL.
