Saturday TV Ratings 12/4/21: It’s A Wonderful Life Modest, Fox College Football Dominates, 48 Hours Rises (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Fox took the reins away from ABC thanks to a massive 'Michigan v. Iowa' college football game (2.90) that beat out the combined total of every other telecast. ABC's 'Pitt v. Wake Forest' game (0.57) could not hold a candle to the Fox network but still secured second-place. On CBS, the original episode of '48 Hours' (0.42, +0.20) rose by a whopping two-tenths from last week at 10. Earlier in the evening, a repeat of 'CSI: Vegas' (0.48) enjoyed a boost from football and led into the 9pm '48 Hours' encore (0.46). On NBC, an early showing of the classic Christmas film 'It's A Wonderful Life!' (0.23) completely underwhelmed, going well below the broadcast from 2020 (0.76). The film will air again on Christmas Eve and should be able to perform much better on that date. The CW barely even registered with its anemic repeat of 'Silent Night: A Song for the World' (0.02).

Finals Update: 'College Football: MI v. IA' (+0.4) and 'College Football: Pitt v. Wake Forest' (+0.1) adjusted up. The repeat of 'CSI: Vegas' (-0.2) adjusted down.
