Court is back in session on NBC, as the network has announced the renewal of hit freshman comedy Night Court. The pickup comes just three weeks into the reboot's run, which has averaged a potent 0.81 in the demo so far - more than double the network's #2 comedy. It's also the highest-rated comedy on television (not counting an NFL-inflated Simpsons). The series is a reboot of the 1980s and 90s sitcom of the same name, which also featured star John Larroquette in a leading role. Melissa Rauch, India de Beaufort, Lacretta and Kapil Talwalkar star alongside Larroquette. The second season is set to film immediately as the entertainment industry prepares for potential union strikes, which will allow NBC to continue programming in the fall even if productions are forced to shut down. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
