CW Renew/Cancel: Some Bold Preseason Predictions

Welcome to a brand new season of the CW Renew/Cancel Watch. This is my fourth season writing this column, and unlike FOX, there hasn't been a change in network direction. Let's just hope Dynasty is not the deciding factor in this column this season, but here are some preseason predictions.

Canceled/

Likely to be Canceled

Likely to be Renewed
Certain to be Renewed
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

All-American
Arrow
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
iZombie

Legacies
Black Lightning
Riverdale
Jane the Virgin

Charmed
Supergirl

Dynasty
The Flash

Supernatural

Noted in the table, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, and Jane the Virgin will air their final seasons this upcoming season.

All-American and Legacies: The freshman WB shows will depend on ratings performances, and as a result, they are in the "watching" column.

Charmed: Charmed is produced by CBS Studios, and on the CW, it is more likely to survive with lower ratings standards than both All-American and Legacies. That means it is going into the "likely renewal" column.

Dynasty: The CW has not canceled a low rated show after two seasons since The Carrie Diaries. In addition, it's fully produced by CBS and it has a US+24 deal with Netflix. Ratings are irrelevant in Dynasty's case, which means you'll likely see a third season of the rebooted nighttime soap opera.

Black Lightning: The show will have 16 episodes this upcoming season, but it's likely to get a third season.

Arrow and Supernatural: Both shows will depend on whether their TNT syndication deals will continue, as they are getting expensive. Supernatural will have 20 episodes, but that is due to cast and crew scheduling. Regardless, both shows are likely to be renewed for new seasons, barring cast and crew fatigue plus ratings.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl: Four seasons = certain to be renewed for fifth seasons on the CW. Fans need not worry.

Riverdale: The show will air its third season this season, which means it is certain to be renewed for a fourth season.

The Flash: For the most likely highest rated show on CW, The Flash is certain to see a sixth season. Fans need not to worry.
