Saturday TV Ratings 10/7/23: Notre Dame/Louisville College Football Game Wins the Night for ABC, 48 Hours Ticks Up, Great Chocolate Showdown Rises for Finale (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'Notre Dame v. Louisville' college football broadcast topped the night in the Adults 18-49 demographic (1.18 rating) and in total viewership (5.12 million). NBC came in second with 'MI v. MN' (0.64 rating /3.06 million). Fox's 'Fresno St. v. WY' game (0.17) was well below the other two and lost to a rerun of CBS's 'Loteria Loca' (0.18). CBS also had a repeat of 'NCIS: Hawai'i' (0.09) and a rising '48 Hours' (0.21, +0.02). The CW's 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.08, +0.05) surged on finale night and led into encores of 'Masters of Illusion' (0.08/0.08).

Saturday TV Ratings 9/30/23: ABC Leads with Notre Dame v. Duke College Football Game, NBC A Distant Second with Michigan State v. Iowa (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's broadcast of the 'Notre Dame vs. Duke' college football game (1.18) demolished NBC's 'Michigan State vs. Iowa' game (0.39) in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The gap was similar in total viewership as ABC managed 5.3 million, while NBC put up about 2.2 million. Fox was close behind NBC with 'MLB Regional Coverage' (0.33). On CBS, '48 Hours' (0.19, 0.00) was even with its last episode from two weeks ago (0.19). The network scheduled a '48 Hours' rerun (0.16) at 9 p.m. and a 'NCIS: Hawai'i' one (0.21) in the 8 p.m. hour. 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.03, -0.02) slipped on the CW and led into repeats of 'Masters of Illusion' (0.05/0.03).

Saturday TV Ratings 9/16/23: 48 Hours Returns Down, Pittsburgh/West Virginia College Football Game on ABC Leads (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC led the way on Saturday night with its 'Pittsburgh v. West Virginia' college football game (0.56). Fox could only manage half of what the alphabet network put up with its 'TCU v. Houston' match-up (0.28). NBC came very close to Fox with its 'Syracuse v. Purdue' game (0.26). On CBS, a rerun of 'NCIS' (0.18) led into the premiere of '48 Hours' (0.22/0.19). The newsmagazine program was on the lower-end of its usual delivery but built on its lead-in nevertheless. 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.05, +0.01) inched up on the CW but lost out to one of the two 'Masters of Illusion' repeats (0.06/0.05) that aired after it.

Finals Update: 'College Football: Pittsburgh v. WV' (+0.2), 'College Football: Syracuse v. Purdue' (+0.1), and the 9 PM repeat of 'Masters of Illusion' (+0.1) adjusted up. 

Saturday TV Ratings 9/2/23: North Carolina/South Carolina College Football Game on ABC Leads Sports-Heavy Night, MLB Steady (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: ABC's 'North Carolina versus South Carolina' college football game (0.95) comfortably outpaced NBC's 'West Virginia v. Penn State' match-up (0.74), leading the alphabet network to a clean Saturday win in the Adults 18-49 demographic. CBS was a lot lower on the totem pole with their 'TX Tech v. WY' college football game (0.32) and even lost to Fox's 'MLB: Regional Coverage' (0.37, 0.00). The CW's 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.04, -0.02) slipped in the 8 p.m. hour. 'Recipe for Disaster' (0.03, -0.02; 0.04, 0.00) took a hit at 9 p.m. but was stable at 9:30 p.m. when compared to last week.

Saturday TV Ratings 8/26/23: NASCAR Leads the Night as MLB Takes Second, College Football Low (UPDATED)

Ratings Analysis: Though Fox's 'MLB: Regional Coverage' (0.37, -0.03) is used to topping the night without contest, NBC's broadcast of the 'NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400' (0.46) slid past 'MLB' and claimed the #1 spot in the Adults 18-49 demographic. On the lower-end of things, ABC's broadcast of the 'SC St. v. Jackson St.' college football game (0.17) was a complete dud that even lost out to a 10 p.m. rerun of CBS's '48 Hours' (0.18). CBS had another '48 Hours' (0.14) at 9 p.m. and an encore of 'NCIS: Los Angeles' (0.12) in the 8 p.m. time slot. 'Great Chocolate Showdown' (0.06, +0.01) picked up a hundredth on the CW. 'Recipe for Disaster' (0.05, +0.01; 0.04, +0.01) was up by the same amount in each half-hour.
