Raid the Cage: It's hard to be too surprised by Raid the Cage's performance last week - CBS could not have been expecting much more than that 0.16 rating when they scheduled the show behind repeats of Hollywood Squares, a show that recently ended its first season with just a 0.13. However, it's still the worst rating we've seen from the show, and a poor rating in general. Summer is a dead zone on CBS, a time for them to air Big Brother, repeats, and nothing else. Last season, CBS had Lingo being essentially burned off in the summer on Fridays. This year, Raid the Cage at least gets a better time slot than that, though the fate will likely be the same. Raid the Cage was always going to have some odd scheduling: its winter slot on Wednesdays between seasons of Survivor was only ever going to allow seven episodes of a twelve-episode season to air, unless they got a bit creative with the scheduling. However, if CBS saw the show as a keeper, they'd certainly be holding episodes over for some slot next year, rather than burying it at 9 PM in early summer, when they're airing absolutely nothing else. They seem to have decided they're done with it long ago, based on them amending their planned midseason schedule to give it a time slot downgrade (which saw Hollywood Squares airing at 10 PM on Wednesdays - not Raid the Cage). Its summer performance won't be enough to save it, though I don't think any rating it could've realistically put up during these last five episodes would've been enough to save it. CBS has already announced its full schedule for next season, and Raid the Cage isn't anywhere on it. It's a CERTAIN CANCELLATION.

The Great North: After airing twelve episodes on its typical night, Sunday, earlier this season, The Great North moved to Thursdays last week for a summer run. While it is airing alongside three renewed series, making this not a traditional summer burnoff, this scheduling does feel like the last nail in the coffin for the series. Animated series are well-documented for taking a long time to produce, and The Great North is the only animated series on Fox that isn't already renewed. Four of their veteran series are already renewed for four more seasons, and Krapopolis and Universe Basic Guys are both renewed for two more. It does not bode well for The Great North that it's still awaiting renewal news, even if Fox has been slow with decisions this year. While Alert and The Cleaning Lady are also still waiting for decisions, a delayed renewal for those would likely not impact a midseason return for them. The same can not be said for The Great North, which will likely air the rest of its remaining episodes this summer, and likely wouldn't be able to return until the 2026-27 season at this rate. But the summer semi-burnoff scheduling isn't the only glaring warning sign here. It's also being scheduled as a clear afterthought, being moved from 9 to 9:30 on Sundays in April despite only having a few episodes left to air, and now airing at 9:30 again. Of course, something has to air at 9:30, but every single piece of evidence is pointing to The Great North being the most expendable animated comedy in Fox's eyes. They have a full slate of cartoons, and just picked up American Dad! for four seasons, so something probably does have to give. It truly seems like that is The Great North, which will likely end a five-season run later this summer. It's a CERTAIN CANCELLATION.
