Telenovela Season 1 Finale Review

This is likely to be the series finale, so I am hoping for no cliffhangers, unlike (the thankfully certain to be renewed) Superstore.

S1E11 "The Stalker"

At the start of the episode, Ana wakes up late, and from there everything just goes bad in her day, until she discovers that she has a stalker, which she is hilariously really excited about. Ana and Xavier talk about having a relationship, and decide to have coffee the next morning. Roxie, Rodrigo, and Isabella try to get good parts in the new show that Isaac is writing, which is pretty funny. Ana waits for Xavier the next morning, but he never shows up.

Xavier also doesn't show up for work, so Ana concludes that her stalker must have kidnapped him, which is a hilarious conclusion. Ana decides to figure out who her stalker is, and makes a hilarious announcement to everyone. Mimi and Gael realize that Kelly is Ana's stalker, when they realize that she has copied everything that Ana did on telenovelas.

Ana gets tied up by Kelly as well, and it is a funny scene. Kelly demands to be Ana's best friend. This is followed by a hilarious montage of them doing best friend things and Kelly holding up the knife. Ana calls Mimi to inform her that they are not best friends anymore, so the rest decide to save her. Meanwhile, Kelly decides to kill Xavier, so Ana tries to stop her, and she ends up falling into the pool, down by the others, who were really funny.

Xavier tells Ana that he was planning on going to coffee that morning. He then sings a song for her on his guitar. They kiss, and this cuts to their kiss on the telenovela, as they are getting married. James shows up, and this is really funny, as it is intentionally really dramatic. And it is a big cliffhanger ending.

This was a really good episode, one of Telenovela's best episodes. I really wish it hadn't ended on a cliffhanger though,

Telenovela S1E10 Review

NBC
This week, Ana meets Xavier's new girlfriend. How will that play out?

S1E10 "Caught in the Act"

The episode begins with everyone trying to distract Ana when Xavier is in a relationship, which is pretty funny. However, she sees them kissing. On set, Rodrigo's character is apparently pregnant, but this turns out to be a typo, although Isaac tries to convince them otherwise, which is really funny. Roxie's character is supposed to be pregnant. Ana decides to have dinner with Xavier and his girlfriend, and bring Mimi along. Rodrigo starts thinking about having a kid, and wonders if he might already. It is pretty funny when he covers up his cat's ears when he mentions certain things. The dinner is really funny, when Ana says that she is things that she is on TV, and when she claims she speaks Spanish, and tries to figure out what the girlfriend said.

Xavier asks Ana about annoying things that he does to help him keep his girlfriend. Rodrigo, Roxie, and Gael go to Rodrigo's ex's house. They discover that she has a son of around 10 years old. They decide to meet the next day, which really feels like the plot is being stretched out. Ana trains Xavier, but his girlfriend then thinks that he slept with Ana.

Ana and Xavier talk, and there is a funny joke about "sad harmonica Xavi", who came out last when he discovered that Jurassic Park wasn't real. Rodrigo discovers that the ex-girlfriend's son is not his. Ana asks for Mimi's car when getting Xavier and his girlfriend back together. Mimi's GPS speaks Spanish, which Ana is convinced she knows enough of. She ends up freaking out when she can't remember what "derecha" means (it means "right"), and she ends up driving into the girlfriend's yard. Ana talks to the girlfriend, and discovers that Xavier is there. She then freaks out, saying that Ana and Xavier are not over each other. Rodrigo discovers that "babies are gross". Ana and Xavier talk, and it ends awkwardly.

This was a good episode. The show has improved from it's earlier episodes, I believe.

Telenovela S1E9 Review

This week, the guys and girls each have a drunken night out. How funny will this be?

S1E9 "Split Personalities"

At the start of the episode, Mimi reveals that her ex-husband is being released from prison, and they discover that he now looks good. Mimi starts to talk like Ana, so Ana decides to be her Mimi. Ana decides that they should have a girls' night out. Roxie and Isabella decide to join them, and Gael wants to join them, but he his a guy, so they won't let him. Instead, Xavier and Rodrigo invite him to a guys' night out. The respective nights out happen, and Gael is really funny at the guys' night out, because he wants to talk, but the rest don't want to. He lists the types of models he could be, which is really funny. In the morning, Ana and Roxie don't remember what happened the night before, but Mimi discovers that she slept with her ex-husband.

Ana decides to tell Mimi that she shouldn't keep going after her ex. Xavier and Rodrigo decide that the guys should go after one of the people who made negative comments about Gael, and the scene is pretty funny. The girls realize that Isabella is missing, so they look for her. Ana finds a clue about what they did the previous night in Mimi's hair, which is really funny. They track down a male stripper.

The girls discover that Isabella might be having an affair. The guys discover that the guy they are after is huge, but he turns out to actually be a huge fan of Gael. The girls discover Mimi's ex, and Ana climbs on him to get the keys Mimi gave him, which is really funny. What's hilarious is when she stands in front of the car to stop them, and they go in reverse.

Isabella shows up at Ana's apartment to pick up her purse. She is with her family, and Ana is surprised by the family. Gael feels much better now. Ana shows Mimi Isabella's perfect family, and she realizes that her ex will never change. The entire group spends the night together at Ana's and it is really funny when they all freak out when they discover that Mimi and her ex had sex everywhere.

This was a great episode, the best episode of Telenovela so far.

This week, Mimi brings her sons to work. Read on for my thoughts on the episode!

S1E8 "Sexual Awakening"

Mimi has brought her kids to work for the day, and this is a little bit funny, as they go crazy on set. Mimi tells Ana that she is having trouble connecting to her oldest son, and Ana tells Mimi about a time she babysat him, and she doesn't realize how irresponsible she was, it is really funny. One of Mimi's sons helps Isaac write, and it is really funny. The men of the cast are worried about a photo shoot when they discover they can't wear makeup and there will be no photoshop. Ana and Mimi go through the oldest son's room, and it is really funny. They discover porn, including a picture of Ana.

Gael discovers that he has a zit, and the men discuss their flaws, which is a little bit funny. Mimi's son is still helping Isaac, and it is pretty funny. Mimi has the men of the cast and Ana give the talk to her son, and it is really funny, especially the nun costume that Ana wears.

Ana talks to Mimi, and Ana realizes that Mimi is not wanting her son to get the talk because she is scared about it. The men realize that their insecurities are no big deal, except for Gael's zit, and it is a pretty funny scene. Mimi and Ana discover that Mimi's oldest son is spying on Roxie, and then he says that he hates Mimi and Ana.

Ana is obsessed that the oldest son said that he hated her, and it is pretty funny. Ana leads the rest of the cast in improvising a scene giving the oldest son the talk. This is especially funny when Roxie tells Ana she has more questions. The episode ends with Isabella looking for someone watching her in the closet, but there is no one there. This is really funny.

This was a really good episode. Ana was really funny because of Mimi's reactions to her self-centered behavior.

Melty
I haven't been so crazy about Telenovela so far. It has had some good moments though. How good will this week's episode be? Read on for my thoughts!

S1E7 "The Grand Gesture"

The episode starts with the discovery that there is a piano on set, which results in everyone in the cast and crew but Ana singing "Congo Rhythm", which she doesn't like and is a little bit funny. James, the network president, enters on an electronic scooter, and that is pretty funny, as is what he says about his friendship with Bill Gates. James leaves a lot of flowers and a giant teddy bear in Ana's dressing room, but she isn't very into this relationship. Also, it turns out the bear has someone inside of it who passed out, which is pretty funny. James later says that he loves Ana, and she is freaked out by how fast this relationship is going. Also, after this, Xavi plays dramatic music on the piano, which is really funny.

Ana is trying to figure out how to break up with James. Mimi suggests just being honest, but Ana says that the truth is hard. She breaks up with him, claiming that it is because of their work relationship. As they hug, Mimi comes in, giving Ana wardrobe choices, which is really funny. James quits his job so he and Ana can be together, which she is shocked by, and the scene is really funny.

James wants to make the relationship even more intense because of his new free time, so Mimi and Gael tell Ana that she needs to be honest. Roxie joins Rodrigo and Isaac's poker game, and she surprises them by winning, and it is a little bit funny. James puts together a big thing that seems like a marriage proposal, but right before he asks her the question, she says that she doesn't want to get married, she wants to break up. It turns out that he wants her to go with him to a wedding, which is really funny.

Ana decides to ask forgiveness from James by singing a song, which is really funny, because she isn't a very good singer, and the singing just keeps getting worse as the song goes on. James realizes that he goes overboard on things, which is really funny, and I loved the joke about how he watched all the episodes of every Law & Order.

This was the best episode of Telenovela yet. It was really good.
