Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 4 Review

The last episode of Scream Queens killed off a major character that was one of the best on the show, and was one of my least favorite episodes of Scream Queens to date. Let's see if this episode can redeem Scream Queens. I'm sure it can. It is Chanel-O-Ween, after all.

Almost immediately after Chad's death, Chanel changes into her Jackie Kennedy costume, because, like Jackie O, she is a grieving widow (well, kind of). This is pretty funny. Denise and Munsch go to visit Hester, and they ask her for information on who the killer is. Of course, Hester wants something for herself. She wants to go the the Halloween party, but her request is denied.

Thankfully, Chanel-o-Ween is still going on. We see videos of many of Chanels fans (Why does she have fans? Does she actually do anything that would give her such a large following?) opening their awful presents from Chanel, including hearts and bile. This is a great part of the episode, and it thankfully makes Chanel happy to tell these people how much she hates them (Let's admit it. She hates anything with a pulse).

At the reading of Chad's will, it is found out that all of Chad's family members are dead, and that their fortune went to Chad. This makes Chanel happy, because she thinks she's going to be super rich. Unfortunately for her, Chad leaves his money to the CURE Institute. It is also found out that Chad changed his will the day of his murder. Chanel tries to kill Chad's lawyer, which is hysterical.

Chanel is starting to look a bit rough, and Brock gives her some medicine to help her. The next morning, when Chanel wakes up, she is more than a little blue. She is turned Blue from head to toe.

While alone at the hospital, Denise is attacked by the Green Meanie. She pulls out her gun, starts shooting, and the Green Meanie goes away. Chanel is at a different part of the hospital, and she gets attacked by someone in a terrifying Ivanka Trump costume. Chanel is stabbed by "Ivanka"  but she is fine. It is revealed that Hester was under the mask, but #5 is actually blamed, as she was planning to dress up as Ivanka.

At the Halloween party, everyone comes out in costume, Munsch is dressed as Hamilton, Brock is dressed as Batman V. Superman's script (and he disses the movie, which is great). Chanel is Smurfette, Zayday is Isis, Cassidy is Ryan Lochte, and Chamberlain is Mario. A bunch of people rush into the hospital with strange symptoms, and Brock diagnoses it as poisoning from the apples. In actuality, the Green Meanie poisoned them as a distraction.

Denise and Chanel have a seance, so that they can see who Chad loved more. Unfortunately for Chanel, Chad loved Denise more. Chad attempts to reveal the killer to Chanel, but he gets interrupted.

We see #5, who is dressed as Ivana Trump, not Ivanka. The confusion is pretty understandable, though. #5 goes off to do something helpful, but gets stabbed by the Green Meanie. Denise comes across #5, but she gets electrocuted by the Green Meanie, multiple times. We are left to wonder whether of not #5 will survive, but Denise is a goner for sure.

This episode killed Denise, the funniest character left, a week after killing Chad. Good job, Scream Queens. You really want to earn that cancellation. Also, where the hell is Ingrid? Did you guys forget that Kirstie Alley is supposed to be on this sinking ship? You ruined an otherwise perfect episode with killing Denise. Losing #5 would have been a loss. But an acceptable one.  Losing Denise is awful and was so stupid. What's next? Killing Chanel? Ugh. And I was wrong. This episode did nothing to redeem Scream Queens. It just added fuel to the fire by killing another fan favorite.

Score: 9/10
Grade: A-

Other than killing the best character on Scream Queens, this episode was the best of the season and would have received the first 10/10 of the season. But I had to take a point off for killing Denise.

And now, another tribute.

Farewell, Denise. You were an excellent character, and you will be sorely missed by the 25 people that still watch Scream Queens.
Denise Hemphill, 2015-2016

I'm not sure when Scream Queens will air next, but whenever that it, I'll be back to review it.

Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 3 Review

Scream Queens- Handidates
Scream Queens has been really good this season, even though it hasn't quite reached the magic of Season 1. So I'm excited to see what they have in store for us tonight.

The episode begins with the Chanels and Munsch dumping Tyler's body into the swamp. There's some really good lines in here. Chanel believes that #5 is the killer, but her reasoning is definitely flawed.

Next, Chad's friend seems to have been completely cured of his disease. Unfortunately, he believes that the Green Meanie is just a test. He is incorrect. The Green Meanie kills him, and it's funny, because he just says how much it hurts. Of course it does! You're being murdered.

Munsch and the Chanels then go to see Hester, who won't give any information without her outrageous demands being met. Munsch won't give in, but she does give her a VCR copy of A Room With a View, which is one of my favorite parts of the episode. Munich gets a text from Chad, and she goes to hear him out. He explains who Brock's hand came from: a serial killer.

We meet a new patient (played by Cheri Oteri, my favorite SNL cast member ever) who has persistent genital arousal disorder (she has lots of orgasms). Her husband left her after realizing that all of her orgasms during their marriage were fake. This is pretty funny.

Then, Cassidy tells #3 why he decided to become a doctor: he's dead. You read that right. Apparently, Dr. Cascade died after chocking on his own vomit at a party. Okay, then. #3 doesn't care because she is strange as hell, and she doesn't feel alive, either.

Chad and Brock meet for another delightfully strange shower scene, and Brock says that he's going to ask Chanel to marry him. After knowing each other for like two weeks. Alright, then.

Munsch and the girls (along with Denise!) head to see the owner of a lotion company that survived the Halloween Massacre. On the night of the murders, he was in the bathroom and survived that way. He was offered millions to keep quiet. He helps them come to the conclusion  that the killer is probably the son of the pregnant woman whose husband was killed by the doctors. Chad fits the description: 30 years old and 6 feet tall. This whole part is pretty funny, especially any of Denise's lines.

Chad decides that he's going to propose to Chanel. Kinda. He hands her a prenup, which she happily agrees to. (Aww, they're in love. Well, they're in as much love as two egomaniacs can be). Brock is spying on them from a distance.

Chanel asks #3 and Zayday to be her bridesmaids. She also has a very special proposal for #5: she wants her to be her ring bearer (they aren't that close, duh) dressed like a dog.

Cheri Oteri's patient is healed and is ready to leave. She's already told the media about her "excellent" care. Unfortunately for her, she is decapitated by the Green Meanie (she really should have just lived with the constant orgasms). The Green Meanie spares Zayday, for some reason.

Now we're at Chanel and Chad's wedding, and everything seems fine. Chad made Chanel go down the aisle first because he'll always put her first (aww). Then the fairytale ends. Chad's corpse drops from the ceiling. The End.

This episode had a chance to be so great. But they really blew it. Cheri Oteri's character was barely even on the screen, but what we saw was great. Alec Mapa's Nurse Lynn was great, too. But then they had to royally fork it up by killing Chad, who made Season 1 and Episode 2 of the show so awesome. He was a great character, and killing him off was so stupid. It tainted an otherwise-good episode.
Score: 5/10
Grade: D

I'll also provide a grade of what the episode could have been rated, had they not killed Chad.
Score: 7.5/10
Grade: B-

And now, a song for the dearly departed Chad Radwell. Farewell, you stupid, stupid idiot. I mean that in the best possible way.

Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 2 Review

The end of the last episode left us on a bit of a cliffhanger. Let's see how they resolve it this week!

Well, #5 is alive. She somehow was not killed by the killer (very fishy). The detective believes her to be the prime suspect, despite the fact that she was locked in the bathtub. Everyone pegs #5 as a suspect, because of their dislike for her.

We meet a new patient at the Institute, Tyler. He has tumors all over his (formerly attractive) body, and #5 believes this to be her chance to date someone attractive. They start to form a bond, and #5 even tries to help raise money for his surgery (aww, young love). But then, when at a restaurant, #5 goes full psycho on some guys that made fun of Tyler.

Chanel and #3 tested Tyler to see if he could actually form a romantic born with someone as hideous as #5. And he passed, which means that Chanel will pay for Tyler's surgery. Unfortunately, Tyler's surgery never comes to be, as her is murdered by the Green Monster just before the Chanels arrive.

Payday and Chamberlain check out the hospital's archives, and find out about a massacre that occurred their on Halloween night in 1986. They question Munsch about it, and she confesses that she had anterior motives for opening the hospital. You see, she's experiencing headaches and other symptoms, and nobody knows what the heck is going on. She wants to be able to find a cure, and think this is her only hope.

Zayday figures out (somehow) that Cathy has an incurable disease called a kuru, and that she's only got 1 year to live.  Cathy wants to keep this all a secret, but Ingrid, who suspected that something was up with Cathy, placed a bug in Cathy's office and hears everything (I smell trouble).

We also get to witness the glorious return of Chad (dressed as a Red Devil), and Chad discovers some troubling things about Dr. Holt. His hand is from a serial killing Squash champion.

Denise also returns, and (of course) talks about how awful she thinks Zayday is. (I just loved Denise's Quantico plug, as well. That was more entertaining than Quantico itself.) At her advice, Munsch and the Chanels go visit our favorite lunatic, Hester. Hester knows exactly who the killer is. There's one major problem, however- she won't tell us who it is. Not unless her list of demands is met.

In other Cathy-related news, she herself gets attacked by the Green Monster (this woman is really batting a thousand today). She fights him (or her?) off, but is unable to unmask them (thanks, Cassidy and #3).

This was a great episode. They've recaptured the magic of last season with the returns of Chad, Denise, and Hester. I never realized how awesome those characters are before, but they're a huge part of why this show works. Plus, I need a Denise spin-off. That would just be amazing.

Numerical Score: 9.5/10
Grade: A

Scream Queens Season 2 Premiere Review

It's finally time for the season premiere of Scream Queens! But I'll be honest: I wasn't too sure about the hospital theme when it was first announced. Let's find out if the premiere did season 1 any justice.

The episode starts out on Halloween in 1985. We're introduced to a bunch of new characters at the hospital. The character played by Jerry O'Connell and another woman takes a man out to a swamp and lets a man die. Then they go back to the party, because they're great at their jobs.

In 2016, we meet Cassidy Cascade and Brock Holt. They work at Dean Dr. Cathy Munsch's new hospital. Cathy's a big celebrity now. We find out that the Chanels are famous now, due to a Netflix documentary. Hester is taken away after confessing on tape, because she's a complete lunatic. Cathy tracks down Zayday, and asks her to come work for her. Payday agrees.

Zayday meets Brock and Cassidy. Brock has lost a hand, and we find out that it's because of a Super Bowl incident. He dropped his Harvard ring down a drain at a Super Bowl party, and his hand was cut off by the garbage disposal. The trio is now working with a patient that is incredibly hairy. A Candy Striper comes in, embarrasses the hairy woman, and she threatens to leave. At the urging of Zayday, she stays.

After the commercial, we are finally reintroduced to the Chanels. They are trying to redeem themselves. Chanel is complaining about how sucky their lives are when Cathy pulls up. She wants them to become medical students at her hospital. They agree. When they arrive, Zayday is shocked, but excited to see them.

The Chanels then try to explain what the term ghosting means. Then they go to talk to "Werewolf Girl", and she also has opinions about ghosting. They talk to her about potential care options. We then meet Ingrid. She does not like Chanel. At all. The Chanels are put on Academic Probation by Cathy, because of their behavior with the patient.

Brock checks out Catherine's diet, and decides to put her on a soy diet. He puts an end to the surgery. When we see Catherine next, she looks waaaaay different. She is completely bald. In #5's words, she looks like a large baby. The Chanels decide to give her a makeover. After the makeover, she looks great.

Ingrid has a "special plan" for the Chanels. Which sounds pretty bad for them. Chanel #5 gives Catherine hydrotherapy. They get locked in, because #5 is quite stupid. A green monster comes in and decapitates Catherine.

Overall, this was a pretty good premiere. It started off a bit slow, but it picked up towards the end. By the end, it felt like the show I knew and loved. I'm excited for the rest of the season.

Scream Queens Season 1 Finale Review

Scream Queens Season 1 Finale Review

Heavy.com
There are still quite a few characters left on Scream Queens leading up to this week's episode, but only four main characters are supposed to survive the season. Many people, then, die in the final two hours of the first season. Read on for my thoughts on those hours.

And, of course, spoilers ahead!

S1E12 "Dorkus"

The episode begins where the last episode left off, where Pete revealed to Grace that he is a murderer. Pete says that he followed Boone weeks ago and found out that he was the Red Devil. He claims that they had good reason to kill these people, because people like the Chanels are responsible for killing more people. Pete reveals that he killed Roger, and he was going to get killed if he didn't. He also killed Boone, and the police officer in the mall. Pete also tells Grace about what Chanel did to him last year. He was trying to kill Chanel when he killed the police officer. Grace says that she never wants to see Pete anymore. And he reveals that it is one of the Kappa sisters, but we pretty much assumed that. It has got to be either Hester or Chanel #5. Grace asks Pete who the other killer is, but then the other Red Devil bursts in right before he reveals it, and kills him. She then gets in a fight with Grace.

Chanel becomes shamed by everyone after she sends an email to the other Kappas, and the Red Devil forwards it to all of Chanel's contacts. Chanel cannot stand how everyone is treating her, and decides that she needs to kill herself. Zayday comes into Chanel's room, where she is trying to kill herself with a snake that she thinks is poisonous, but it is actually a garter snake in a sweater, which is pretty funny. Zayday convinces Chanel that they can rebuild Kappa together by catching the Red Devil killer. A man in a Red Devil costume then comes in to kill them, but Zayday stops him. He says "she made me do it". Also, Hester says that someone with scars on her face and carrying a shovel saying something like "I'm a dork" showed up. He reveals he has dynamite strapped to him, and it is about to go off. The Kappas run away in a weird slow motion scene, then he blows up.

Chanel #5 is reliving the explosion, but #3 wants to move on. Chanel announces that she is going to go on an apology tour, and that her first stop would be Melanie Dorkus's house. Also, Chanel believes that Boone is the only killer, and to avoid getting killed, they just all need to avoid places that gay people go, which is very funny. Grace and Wes talk, and the scene has some funny moments. Grace then comes up with a plan to find out who the Red Devil is, and tells Wes that he is going to have to take one for the team and create a playlist.

Cathy shows up at her house, and there are candles everywhere. She finds Wes in her bedroom in his underwear, and he says that he knows that they are supposed to be together. He plays music, and they have sex, as Grace and Zayday sneak around. The Chanels visit Melanie's house, except Hester who stays at Kappa house. Grace and Zayday look at one file, and discover that parts of it are very made up. Chanel #5 discovers that someone swiped right on her on Tinder, and leaves the other two.

Wes and Cathy talk, and she says that Grace needs to go bye-bye. Chanel and #3 visit Melanie, and Chanel is convinced that she is the killer, and is about to kill her when Grace and Zayday rush in saying that Hester is the killer. The four go back to Kappa house, and find #5 there, who said that her swipe right was a fake. They all then find Hester on the ground with the heel of a shoe in her eye. She suddenly opens her eyes, points to Chanel #5 and says "Red Devil".

S1E13 "The Final Girl(s)"

The episode starts in January 2016. Zayday is now the Kappa president, and Grace is her vice president. The opening scene is very funny. Hester is the treasurer, and then she narrates to the audience how she got away with the plan. She tells her life story, from growing up in an asylum, which is hilarious, especially Gigi's teaching of murder weapons, to her acceptance into college, with the obviously faked transcript. She spared Grace and Zayday because they were nice to her, but she killed the other Chanels.

Back in December, Chanel and #3 interrogate #5 and come up with a theory. Denise enters, and reveals that Boone is dead, though Grace already knew that. Hester enters, and Grace and Zayday insist that she is the killer. Hester, to prove her innocence, brings in fake parents, which is pretty funny. Then, #5's parents enter, and claim that they adopted #5 from Gigi, which Hester convinced them to say two weeks earlier. Denise is still convinced that Zayday is the killer, but admits that this is suspicious.

Hester comes up with a lot of fake evidence against Chanel #3, after accusing her of working with #5. This evidence includes letters from Charles Manson and a signed psychiatrist letter saying that #3 has a split personality. Denise arrests #3, along with #5 who she already arrested. Then, Hester says that Chanel is also working with them. Hester provides proof that Chanel bought items such as a chainsaw, crossbow, and riding lawnmower. Denise plans to arrest Chanel, but she runs. The other Chanels run as well. Denise calls for backup, and former male strippers who are now police officers come in and take the Chanels away. This is hilarious.

The episode them jumps to May 2016, and Cathy tells what has happened in the last five months. Denise and Chad broke up when Denise is needed by the FBI, and it is hilarious. Cathy wrote a book about "new new feminism", well really a ghost writer wrote it, and it is hilarious. Hester, Grace, and Zayday work on a monument. After Grace and Zayday leave, Hester and Cathy talk, and Cathy says that she knows that Hester is the killer, but when she says that she will turn Hester in, Hester says that if she does, she will turn Cathy in for the murder of her ex-husband, so they decide not to turn each other in.

Grace started a hotline for people who have surprise twins at a party, but it hasn't gotten much activity. Wes tells Grace he is going to give Grace a gift, which turns out to be his trust. He is going to Napa with Cathy. The Chanels are in court, and while the jury is about to say they are not guilty, they change their minds after Chanel insults them. They get sent to the insane asylum. This ended up being great for them. #3 fell in love with a lesbian nurse, and Chanel became best friends with #5. Then, the Red Devil shows up to kill Chanel. I found it to be a strange ending to the season for an anthology series, and not as many people died as I expected.

While "Dorkus" had some funny moments and some thrilling moments, there were some parts that were not as interesting, but overall it was a good episode. I enjoyed most of "The Final Girl(s)", I just wasn't excited about the ending, so it was still a great episode.

What did you think of "Dorkus" and "The Final Girl(s)"? If Scream Queens gets another season, will you return? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
