Christmas has come very early for two of CBS's freshman dramas, with the network handing renewals to both Boston Blue and Sheriff Country before the year has even reached its end. Both part of a reformed Friday night lineup, the two dramas have been successful additions to the CBS slate. Both are also part of notable "brands" for CBS, something the network has recently highlighted the importance of Boston Blue is a spinoff/sequel to the long-running Friday night staple Blue Bloods, which ended last year, and Sheriff Country is the long-gestating spinoff of CBS's popular Fire Country. Sheriff Country has been a fairly strong linear ratings performer, averaging 0.25 in the demo. That's the highest of any CBS Friday show, and also the highest average of any Friday show this season. Boston Blue has been a more modest linear performer, with a 0.18 average, but like Sheriff Country, it is a top twenty show in total viewers in the coveted multiplatform-plus-seven metric. Notably, both shows are rating ahead of Fire Country - which has not yet been renewed - in that metric. Also boosting Boston Blue was its strong international sales, being sold into over one hundred international markets. Donnie Wahlberg reprised his Blue Bloods role in Boston Blue, while Morena Baccarin stars in Sheriff Country. Both are correct predictions for The TV Ratings Guide.
