iZombie Season 2 Finale Review

iZombie Season 2 Finale Review

Spoilers Guide
The people behind iZombie planned for a 22-episode season, so when they were given a back 6 instead of a back 9, they had to fit more into less episodes. They have done a great job so far, and now we have two more episodes left of the season, both airing on April 12th.

S2E18 "Dead Beat"

At the start of the episode, the FBI searches Major's house, and they find things that seem to prove that Major is the Chaos Killer. Liv is freaking out, because she can't understand this. Ravi gets arrested as well, for accessory to murder. Liv visits Major, and he tells her that he is hungry. Zombie in a prison is not a good situation. It seems that this will go away, as there are no bodies, but it likely won't happen soon enough, something needs to be done. And Liv doesn't know the whole story.

Ravi is released, and is staying with Liv and Peyton. He tells them what's going on, so Ravi finds out where the bodies are being kept from Major. This is a great scene, as Ravi asks in sort of code where the bodies are. Ravi and Liv go there, hoping to make one of them reappear, and discover that the coolers are all empty.

Vaughn tells one of his people to kill Major and Liv when he gets out of jail. Ravi is unsuccessful at getting a brain out of the morgue, but Blaine gets Liv a brain. When Major is released, Liv walks him down the steps of the courthouse, and Ravi has a brain shake for him in the car, but before he can get there, Clive stops him, arresting him for the Meat Cute murders.

Clive brings a theory to Major, saying that Major got angry when the kids he was helping got taken by some brain cult. Clive goes to Liv's to check on her alibi for Major for the Meat Cute murders. She meets with Major, and he is almost slipping into being a full on zombie. He asks for the cure, because that will only result in his death.

Liv makes a treat for Major, because she is too attached to him to do the safer option. Peyton helps her put her plan into action, but the idiot lawyer eats the treat instead. When Liv finds out about this, she is very distraught. Rose McIver's performance in this scene is excellent. Liv tells Clive the truth about zombies, and when he doesn't believe her, she stabs herself to prove it. (And, as Rose McIver said on Twitter, now #Babiknows)

Major is released, and Dale is furious at Clive. She asks him why he did what he did, and when he can't explain, she breaks up with him. Malcom Goodwin is great in this scene. Not all is well, however, for Liv, as Vaughn's man is still after her. Ravi almost unintentionally helps him get away, but then realizes what's happening. Go Ravi! He accidentally kills Vaughn's man, but Liv realizes that he is useful, as he knows a lot. So, she eats his brain. She has a vision, the zombies Major went after are alive!

S2E19 "Salvation Army"

Clive is having trouble getting over Dale, so he calls her and leaves her a voicemail. Mr. Boss decides to go after Don E after Seattle shuts down the operation on him. There is a hilarious scene where Ravi tells Peyton he is going to become a bad boy, and then Liv and Major find them on the couch together when they get back. Mr. Boss's people discover that Blaine is still alive.

Liv, Major, Ravi, and Clive create a plan for how to get into the basement and free the zombies. There are some really hilarious lines in this. Vaughn talks to Rita, and there are some other great lines in this scene. Liv and Major can't find the person they are looking for in the party, so Clive gets in.

Blaine leaves when Peyton and Ravi argue about if he can stay. Mr. Boss's person comes in, and kidnaps Peyton. He takes her, and tells Ravi to deliver Blaine. At the party, the young scientists turn into zombies when they take utopium and then drink Super Max. This ends up helping Liv, Major, and Clive escape when security guards are going to take them and lock them up. However, these zombies get into the party, and that gets messy.

Things get crazy at the party, as everyone ends up dead or undead. The trio gets chased into a room, and all of the zombies want Clive's brain. The only way out may be to scratch Clive. Will Clive turn into a zombie? Who would have thought that when these two hours began? Meanwhile, Blaine and Ravi prepare to rescue Peyton.

Blaine goes in without Ravi. He is made angry by this, and wants to go to help rescue Peyton. Liv, Major, and Clive are rescued by the military woman, who kills the zombies. They go down to the basement, where they free Rita, but Vaughn shows up and traps Liv and Clive. Liv discovers that Drake has gone full on zombie, as cure number 3 didn't work. She is completely distraught by this.

Vaughn lets the two zombies out, and while Clive kills one, Liv must kill Drake. Vaughn trues to get two zombies to kill Major, but discovers Major is a zombie again. Major gets Vaughn killed by the zombies, and ends up killing Rita. This is very intense. The military woman's people handle the situation, and Liv meets the new zombies, the scientists, who want the world to become a zombie one, with Seattle as the capitol.

This was a crazy finale! So much happened in the last two hours! Both episodes were great, and I am excited for season 3! I don't think it will be like the first two seasons.

Geeked Out Nation
Next week is the two-hour season finale of iZombie! I am so excited! And that means that in these last three episodes, a lot is going to happen, so let's jump right in to episode 17.

S2E17 "Reflections of the Way Liv Used to Be"

At the start of the episode, two candidates for student senate at a university are on a radio program. Meanwhile, Major is completely honest with Ravi, and Liv looks for Drake. (Also, the themesong was cut short, and if this is permanent I am going to be really angry, because I love "Stop, I'm Already Dead" and I love what they did with the title sequence.) Don E has tricked Blaine into thinking that he works for Don E. Two college students discover a dead body in the pool, one of the candidates.

Major is on optimist brain, which is really funny. Ravi, Liv, and Clive go to work, and the candidate's friend is convinced that the other candidate killed her. Liv is nervous about eating this brain, because she used to be a lot like this girl. She does, however. It is revealed that Rita was kidnapped by her father. I wonder where this is heading.

Vaughn is now going to look for a cure, it's his top priority, after the Super Max launch. Liv is going over-the-top at work, and she actually ends up opening up to Clive about Drake, which is a great moment. A student that Clive meets is confident that a detective killed the girl.

This student reveals that he dragged this girl into a bunch of mess, so Liv and Clive go to the detective, who later goes to Liv on her own, and she shares what's going on in the case. Meanwhile, Peyton goes to Blaine, so he looks for the morgue but instead runs into Clive and his FBI girlfriend, who had just asked him to apply for the FBI.

Ravi explains to Blaine what has happened and what he has done, which is really interesting. Major brings Ravi a plan to see if Blaine's memory loss is real, he will scratch Vaughn and use it on him. Liv has a vision, revealing that the student who worked at the snack place sold utopium. The other detective gets there first, however, puts him in handcuffs, and gets knocked out by one of Blaine's workers, who then kills the guy.

Liv and Clive solve the murder, though the murderer is now dead. The FBI discovers that Major is the Chaos Killer due to the woman from the dog place. His plans with Vaughn don't work out, and he gets arrested. What a crazy ending!

I really like what this episode did with the relationship between Liv and Clive. And that ending, wow! I have no idea what will happen next. What will season three look like? Clive may be headed to the FBI, Major is currently headed to jail. This was a great episode.

iZombie S2E16 Review

iZombie S2E16 Review

Spoilers Guide
Even though I am on vacation in nice and warm Arizona, Liv Moore is still back in Seattle working hard. And this week, her work might include something a lot different than just police work.

S2E16 "Pour Some Sugar, Zombie"

At the start of the episode, Rita comes into Liv's apartment, looking for brains in her freezer. Unfortunately for her, however, she is kidnapped. Peyton moves back in, and the scene gets pretty funny when they talk about them being the friends from Friends. Peyton gets a call from a woman who was dating someone who works for Mr. Boss and has information, but she gets killed. They figure out who the killer is quickly, but Peyton insists that Liv eats the woman's brain to find out the information she knew.

Peyton and Liv go to a strip club in hopes of triggering a vision, and this is hilarious. What's especially hilarious is Liv's attitude on this brain. Major's secrets are sadly starting to get in the way of his bromance with Ravi when he sees Major hiding things in a safe. Liv has a vision, and then talks to a friend of the dead stripper's, who leads them to a regular customer, the weatherman from season one. Ravi is getting closer to discovering the truth about Major, and the way he is acting is really helping Ravi. Clive and Liv investigate at the strip club, and become suspicious of one woman. Liv discovers that there was a witness to the murder through a vision, but he is no help.

Clive arrests the ex, and then he and Liv interview the woman he was sleeping with. However, she won't stop crying and gives them no information, which is pretty funny. Blaine is having major memory issues, which is a really interesting twist. Clive and Liv get information from the weatherman and discover who the murderers are. Also, Liv helps Peyton figure out which house she saw in her vision. Ravi gets into Major's safe, and it is a really intense scene. He goes through all of the things in there, and is shocked.

Clive and Liv are having difficulties discovering who had the car, it is harder than it seems like it should be. They eventually discover that the crying girl drove the car, and the one who testified against her was the actual killer. Liv goes to Drake's mom, who is sure that Drake is dead because he always calls multiple times a day. Liv then discovers that Drake was an undercover cop, and she is shocked. The final scene of the episode is really intense. Major comes home, Ravi confronts him, it appears that Major is turning back into a zombie, and Ravi injects him. Only three episodes left this season!

This was a great episode. The case of the week was fairly interesting, Liv's new personality was great, and the Ravi scenes were really intense.

Gamers Sphere
We're in the final stretch of iZombie's second season now. This week is episode fifteen out of nineteen.

S2E15 "He Blinded Me...With Silence"

At the start of the episode, Liv eats the brain of a woman whose face was burned. After she leaves, Blaine shows up in need of brains. Liv and Clive talk to the woman who sued the deceased woman's company that resulted in her firing. A very energetic Vaughn meets with Major. Rita shows up, and her black eye is revealed. Clive and Bozzio, the FBI agent, discover that the brains they thought were cow brains from before were actually human brains.

Drake shows up late for his date with Liv, and she, with her new brains, thinks about this statistically. Ravi is studying one of the rats, and Liv provides an explanation for him, due to her new brain. Liv discovers, through a vision, that their victim worked at Max Rager, as she sees Vaughn in her vision. Liv and Clive discover that the victim was using a fake name. A new position opens up at Max Rager, as a result of her death, so Liv decides to apply for the job, in disguise. Major goes to Blaine to find out what zombie to kill, and he tells him to kill Drake.

Liv goes to Max Rager, but in the elevator she takes a bad risk where she tries to get clearance to the secret basement, wish means that an alarm goes off. She talks to Vaughn, but doesn't get anything out of it. Clive goes to the woman's house who they went to earlier, and a kid said that he saw her last week, and she did have problems with her face. He discovers that they are actually sisters, and that the normal one committed the murder. It is a really emotional confession. Ravi gives Blaine a cure he has developed where the long-term effects haven't been tested. Liv, spying, discovers that Drake works for Mr. Boss.

Liv tells Ravi what she discovered. They decide that she should confront Drake about it in a public place with many exits. Blaine gives his workers advice for if he dies, and it is a great scene. In the basement of Max Rager, the test zombie breaks free and attacks the scientist. Vaughn then leaves Rita to the zombie. She comes back up, as a zombie. This is a really interesting twist for her character. It was also really interesting to see how terrified Vaughn was by his daughter having turned into a zombie. Blaine eventually takes the new cure, and Major kills Drake right before he got to where Liv is waiting for him. If she had left moments earlier, he would have lived.

Most of the episode was entertaining, but average. At the end, it got great. Overall, it was a good episode.

iZombie S2E14 Review

iZombie S2E14 Review

SciFi TV
Liv has an optimistic view on things this week on iZombie.

S2E14 "Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind"

Ravi tells Liv and Major that most of the tainted utopium was lost, but they still had some. He will have to test this before giving it to Major. At a coffee shop that Ravi goes to, an air conditioner falls on a woman who goes out onto the sidewalk. Liv eats the brains, and the personality she takes on is really funny, an extreme optimist. Clive reveals that this death was a murder, so Clive and Liv go to investigate. They find a woman who works for the optimist, and she is extremely hilarious. Like everything she said. Liv has a vision of her being aggressive after stealing money from the cash register. Ravi and Major check on the rat, and they discover that it is in a terrible state that I don't even know how to describe. Maybe it would have been better for Major to stay a zombie.

Blaine makes a payment to Mr. Boss, picked up by someone who works for him, and he is really funny in the scene. Liv and Clive go to the coffee shop, and discover that the optimist used to be partners with a man, who now hates her, and tried to sue her. The person who collected the money from Blaine talks to Mr. Boss, and they come up with a plan. Liv and Ravi go to the memorial service for the optimist. Ravi talks to the girl that likes him, and it is hilarious because they are from different worlds, she has never seen Star Wars. Liv talks to the daughter, and she has a vision, revealing that it was the daughter who was stealing the money from the cash register. Drake is about to get arrested, so he punches the cop in the face and runs off.

Ravi tries to convince Liv to ask for an alibi from the daughter. Ravi eventually asks her when she comes out of the service. Clive tells Liv that the former partner couldn't have been stuck in traffic at the time like he says, and that he checked out the apartment the air conditioner came from. He provides another alibi, and it checks out. It turns out that a lot about the daughter's boyfriend is a lie, and his alibi can't be confirmed. Drake has been arrested, and the cop punches him, saying it is to keep his cover. What is going on?

It turns out that the boyfriend was in downtown Seattle, not Bellevue, at the time of the murder. Liv tries to convince him to confess, and Clive tries to get the boyfriend to say that the daughter asked him to do it. Everything is going well, until the boyfriend ends up deciding not to turn in his girlfriend. They know that she is responsible, but they can't arrest her. The police officers tell Drake that he needs to stop seeing Liv. Blaine ends up getting a gun pointed at him by the man working for Mr. Boss. He gets knocked out, and kidnapped. The scene between Blaine and Mr. Boss is intense. He is brought to a hole, where he is supposed to die. His throat is slit, and he appears to be dying, but is he actually? Is he a zombie again, as he slept with Candy?

The daughter sells the coffee shop to the former partner. Liv gets a knock at the door, and it is Major. He says there are things he has done that he needs to tell someone. Before he has the chance, Rita enters, and Liv introduces her. It is really is interesting that Major and her never crossed paths with Liv around. When he exits, instead of saying Gilda, he says Rita, and Liv gets angry at her. Blaine climbs out from the ground, after a nice touch reminding us that Candy is a zombie.

I loved the coffee theme of the episode, very Seattle. There were some good moments, and the ending was great, but the case of the week was mostly uninteresting, focused almost entirely on alibis, and going sort of back and forth between people as their focus. Overall, it was a pretty good episode.
