ABC Extends Orders of Stumptown, Mixed-ish and The Rookie

At long last, ABC has made announcements regarding the episode counts of some of its fall series. New series Stumptown and Mixed-ish and sophomore drama The Rookie have all received backorders on the network. All have been steady (if lower-than-average) performers for ABC, with Stumptown and The Rookie both remaining within a tenth of their premiere ratings and Mixed-ish holding steady in the 0.6-0.7 range after a 0.9 premiere. All three series are produced at least in part by ABC. Mixed-ish has received a full back-nine order, with its first season now set to run 22 episodes. The Rookie has received seven more episodes, meaning its second season will be as long as its first. Deadline reports that Stumptown will run at least 18 episodes with the possibility of a few extra episodes beyond that. There is no backorder announcement yet for sophomore comedies Schooled and Bless This Mess, both of which premiered at midseason last year and likely received 13-episode seasons. Tuesday drama Emergence will be capped at 13 episodes and it is claimed that that was the plan from the start.

CBS Expands 'Elementary' Season 6 Order to 21 Episodes

Lucy Liu, Jonny Lee Miller ("Elementary") | CBS
CBS has expanded the upcoming sixth season of Elementary from 13 episodes to 21. The previous five seasons of the series produced 24 episodes each, with a lucrative syndication deal making full seasons an incentive for the network. For the first time since its debut in 2012, Elementary was absent from the fall schedule last May following its increasingly meager first-run ratings performance.

With the network recently deciding against more Wisdom of the Crowd, the return of Elementary to Sunday nights is a possibility going forward. In addition, the network has yet to offer scheduling for the third season of Code Black, as well as the first season of Instinct, starring The Good Wife's Alan Cumming.

CBS Gives Superior Donuts and Man With a Plan Full Seasons

Two of CBS's Monday night sitcoms will be sticking around at least a little bit longer. Man With a Plan and Superior Donuts, two 2016-17 freshmen that returned this year for previously-limited runs, will each receive eight more episodes for their current seasons. Man With a Plan, starring Matt LeBlanc and Kevin Nealon, has averaged 1.0 this season, while Judd Hirsch and Katey Sagal's Superior Donuts has averaged a 0.93. CBS Orders a Full Season of SEAL Team

CBS has unsurprisingly ordered a full season of newbie drama SEAL Team. The show, starring David Boreanaz of Bones and Max Thieriot of Bates Motel, follows a team of, well, Navy SEALs, who go on dangerous missions to protect the US. The show has been a decent ratings performer thus far, averaging a 1.3 after its first three airings. SEAL Team is the second CBS show, after Young Sheldon,  and the second drama, after The Good Doctor, to receive a backorder this season. Fellow CBS shows Me, Myself & I, 9JKL, and Wisdom of the Crowd have yet to receive any extensions. SEAL Team season one will now run for twenty-two episodes.
