Star Canceled by Fox After Three Seasons

Musical drama Star won't be returning on Fox next season. The network canceled the series despite a strong season for the show ratings-wise. It currently averages a 1.06, which is a 19% decline from season two. Along with its lead-in Empire, the show has been a strong and reliable Wednesday night performer for Fox. However, the show had a difficult time being renewed last season due to high costs, and now found itself as an outside production due to 20th Century Fox being purchased by Disney. All of this was just too much for even a solid performer like Star to overcome. Jude Demorest, Queen Latifah and Brandy star in the series, which aired its series finale on May 8. This was a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
