TV Ratings 9/7/17: Network Stars Ends Low, NFL Kickoff Down from Last Year's Prelims

Thursday was a great night to be NBC, a partially great night to be CBS, and a terrible night to be ABC. NBC won the night big time with their coverage of the NFL Kickoff, with no network even remotely close. That doesn't mean that the game wasn't down, though. It came in about a point lower than last year's game, despite having Super Bowl champs the New England Patriots as a part of it. Even though the 7.2 is a good deal lower, it's still a strong number that will adjust up greatly. CBS had a stronger outing from Big Brother, up three tenths from its weak outing last Thursday. Zoo was also on the upswing, but does it even matter at this point? Probably not. The 8 PM repeats were also strong, with the Big Bang repeat taking fourth (2nd if you don't count sports) for the night. ABC had a finale-filled night and it went terribly. Battle of the Network Stars ended with a weak 0.6, which was slightly up from its previous outing. The Gong show ended on a season low, down to 0.5. Both shows should be done, but don't rule out the possibility of one of them returning for another run next year. Fox had its traditional Thursday lineup together again, and both were up from their most recent rating. The CW's reality shows were both steady.

TV Ratings 8/24/17: The Night Shift Rises, Big Brother Sinks (UPDATED)

It was yet again an adjustment-filled Thursday, with most shows adjusting down from their preliminary ratings. Despite that, some shows actually managed to be up week-to-week. None of those shows were on CBS. Big Brother had a steep 0.4 decline to 1.7, nearly a Thursday low point. Behind BB, Zoo sank two tenths to an embarrassing and just plain sad 0.4. NBC had the best night, with the finale of SNL Weekend Update, The Night Shift, and the repeat of Great News all ticking up from last week. The Wall, however, was down. On ABC, the Boy Band finale was higher than last week, though Battle of the Network Stars ticked down to an ugly dumber. Fox and CW were both rock solid.

TV Ratings 8/17/17: Weekend Update Steady, Big Brother Hits a New Season High (UPDATED)

It was another day jam-packed with preemptions, and that caused lots of downward adjustments in the finals. Big Brother, however, managed to adjust UP, giving it a two tenth uptick from last week. BB's lead-out, Zoo, was steady, while its comedy repeat lead-ins were both up. On NBC, The Wall ticked up two tenths, though that didn't help SNL Weekend Update Thursday, which was steady. Behind Weekend Update, the Great News repeat was steady and the Night Shift was up a tick. On ABC, Boy Band and BOTNS were steady, while Gong Show ticked down from its special episode on Monday. On Fox, Love Connection ticked up, while Beat Shazam was steady. On the CW, Penn & Teller was up, while Whose Line? stayed at a so-so 0.3.

TV Ratings 8/3/17: Boy Band Stays Steady, NFL Preseason Football Takes the Crown (UPDATED)

It was a pretty steady night for broadcast, with only most originals being steady week-to-week. However, NBC saw huge w2w gains, with preseason football replacing the Thursday block for the week. Football was obviously a much bigger draw, and it pulled in a 2.3 in the demo, more than double last week's average. But Football didn't really seem to effect the other networks, with only Beat Shazam on Fox ticking down. The already-renewed game show didn't hold on to last week's uptick, but it's not a bad number, especially when considering that it's dipped this low without football in the past. As for Love Connection, it stayed steady at a very meh 0.6. ABC's lineup stayed anemic, with all three steady at their previous low points (though Boy Band did hit a 0.4 in the second half). It's not promising for these shows that are just in their infancy, and it's very unlikely that this lineup will be returning in its entirety next year. CBS had Big Brother steady at 1.9. The shows once again just barely failed to crack a 2.0, though it is getting even closer, having hit a 2.0 in its first half-hour. Zoo continued to flop like nobody's business, stuck at 0.5 for a third week. The 8:30 repeat of Kevin Can Wait ticked up a tenth while TBBT was steady. The CW tried out a new lineup, replacing the new Monday occupant Hooten & the Lady with Whose Line?, and things worked out well Whose Line? hit a new season high, up a tenth from its latest episode and double what it premiered to. The Whose Line? original/repeat combo came in at double the rating that Hooten & the Lady had received in its weeks in the slot.

Updated: Sunday Night Preseason Football (+0.2) adjusted up. A Whose Line? repeat (-0.1) and Zoo (-0.1) adjusted down, marking an ugly low for the latter.
