The WBL is the most popular women’s basketball league in America, but a storm is coming. After years of increasing interest in the league, the upcoming season’s draft is set to include the most popular - and most promising - college player yet: Annie Carter, a point guard who took a little-known team from her Pennsylvania hometown to the College Women’s Basketball Championship, setting scoring records along the way. A lucky trade by the once-legendary but long-struggling Colorado Cougars sees the team trading off a star player in exchange for the #1 draft pick, in what was previously expected to be a weak draft before Annie’s surprising decision to declare for the draft rather than running it back with her college team once more. That unexpected decision means one of the most hyped-up draftees of all time will now play with a veteran shooting guard widely believed to be the greatest women’s basketball player of all time: Debra Andreesi, a four-time champion and two-time MVP, who has been contemplating retirement for several seasons. Together, Annie and Debra come together to try and turn this team of misfits around after years of underperformance, as Annie helps Deba rediscover her love of basketball along the way.
