Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The acquisition of this veteran comedy from Fox was one of NBC's biggest plays this Winter. Its placement on the Thursday lineup bumped Will & Grace to 9:30, and it's been doing pretty decently at 9. Even as its Titan Games lead-in continues to bleed viewers every single week, Brooklyn has more-or-less found a core audience at 0.9. So far, it's gone slightly above that 0.8 and slightly below it since week 2. Considering the state of NBC's comedy department, its ratings are more than acceptable. It's destined to drop once The 8 PM comedy block is reinstated and it has AP Bio as its lead-in, but no matter what, Brooklyn will be back. It's a CERTAIN RENEWAL.

The Blacklist: I was very conflicted about this one when it first premiered, but I've gotten more confident on its chances since then. While it really isn't making that much of a case for renewal, those 0.6s could be worse. Midnight, Texas certainly proved that. I find it hard to believe than NBC would cancel a long-running show that has meant as much to them as The Blacklist has, even if their schedule is packed. It starts out int he LEANS RENEWAL category.

Blindspot: While this show looked like a certain goner earlier in the season, it's been having some more respectable results in the recent months. I still wouldn't want to be Blindspot come May, but it has some fight left in it. 0.6s obviously aren't ideal, but they're acceptable numbers for Friday at this point, and it's not where I thought this show would be after the 0.4s early in the season. I still might end up downgrading it again as the season progresses, but for now, Blindspot is upgraded to a LIKELY CANCELLATION.

Midnight, Texas: This fantasy drama got the axe at the end of 2018, just ahead of its finale. I've had it marked as a certain cancellation since the premiere, and I don't know if there's anyone that didn't.

New Amsterdam: Since our last update, NBC ordered a second season of this freshman medical drama. I wasn't certain of it, but I was pretty sure that this would end up being the result. That's the third correct prediction out of three so far.

NBC Cancels Marlon and Midnight, Texas

A pair of second-season NBC Summer shows from 2017 are on their way out, the network has announced. Marlon and Midnight Texas (which made the move in-season this time around) won't be back for third seasons next year. While both were decent enough players in their first seasons, things went off the rails a bit for Marlon in season two (with a 0.6 average). Midnight, Texas completely fell apart and is currently averaging a 0.4. Both of these are correct predictions for the TV Ratings Guide,  which marked Marlon as "Leans Cancellation" and Midnight, Texas as a "Certain Cancellation." This makes Midnight, Texas the first in-season show of 2018-19 to be officially canceled.
