High Potential, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville Renewed by ABC

A day after the renewal of Abbott Elementary, ABC had picked up additional seasons of three of their drama series. Freshman drama 9-1-1: Nashville has been renewed for a second season, while breakout sophomore drama High Potential has been renewed for a third season, and 9-1-1 will be back for a landmark tenth season - its fourth on ABC. All three series have performed well for ABC, particularly High Potential, which is one of the highest-rated series on all of television in multiplatform ratings, and has been since its debut. It currently boasts an average of 12.7 million viewers and 2.4 in the key 18-49 demo in the MP+7 metric this season, making it the highest-rated series on broadcast TV in the demo and the second most-watched show in total viewers. While 9-1-1 has cooled off this season in all regards, its remains a solid anchor of Thursday nights, with a 0.33 L+SD average this season and a 1.4 rating in the MP+7 metric. 9-1-1: Nashville is the weakest of the renewed trio, with a 1.1 in the MP+7 and a more modest 0.25 L+SD rating, though it has been an improvement on Doctor Odyssey, and is the latest spinoff in an important Disney brand, easing its renewal. Kaitlin Olson leads the cast of High Potential, while Angela Bassett, Kenneth Choi, and Oliver Stark are among the stars of 9-1-1 and Chris O'Donnell, Jessica Capshaew and Kimberly Williams-Paisley head the ensemble of 9-1-1: Nashville. All three are correct predictions for The TV Ratings Guide.

Abbott Elementary Renewed by ABC

Abbott Elementary will be back in session next season on ABC. The network has renewed their acclaimed veteran comedy for a sixth season, marking ABC's first renewal of the season. Abbott has been a ratings success since its debut, and currently averages 0.33 in the key 18-49 demo, tying it for fourth place among ABC's slate of scripted series. It's also a top-rated series in multiplatform viewing, averaging 1.82 in MP+7 viewing so far, only behind three of its fellow ABC series. The show has won Emmy awards for stars Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph, as well as accolades for its writing and a SAG ensemble award, making it one of the most acclaimed broadcast comedies in recent memory. It has been a staple of ABC's slimmed-down Wednesday comedy lineup since its second season, and will cross the 100-episode mark in its sixth season. Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti and William Stanford Davis co-star in the series alongside the aforementioned Brunson - the show's creator - and Ralph. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.

Best Medicine Renewed by Fox

Less than a week after renewing Animal Control, Fox has continued their renewals with a second-season order for Best Medicine, their new medical dramedy. Best Medicine has had a solid run thus far despite an underwhelming post-NFL launch, respectably settling into the Tuesday lead-off slot and averaging 0.25 in the 18-49 demo to-date. The series has also performed well in delayed viewing, with Fox boasting that it averages more than six million viewers in MP+7 viewing, ranking second among the network in that metric. It's the third new show of the season to receive a rental order, after a pair of fall dramas from CBS. Season two is set to run for twelve episodes, down one from season one's thirteen-episode order. The series, based on the UK drama hit Doc Martin, stars Josh Charles, Abigail Spencer, Annie Potts and Josh Segarra. This is a correct prediction for The TV Ratings Guide.
