CBS Renew/Cancel Week 20: Final Thoughts on The Price Is Right At Night and Let’s Make A Deal Primetime

Below is the table of predictions for Week 20 of CBS Renew/Cancel, followed by an analysis. Let me know what you think by voting in the poll and leaving a comment!

The Price Is Right At Night and Let’s Make A Deal Primetime
The Price Is Right At Night has seen a ratings surge in the Wednesdays at 8 pm time slot. Its 0.50 Adults 18-49 Live + Same Day rating was the highest of all shows airing that night, including NBC’s Chicago trio. The Price Is Right At Night costs far less to produce than a Chicago series, or presumably any scripted series for that matter. However, it dropped back down to a 0.30 rating on Friday, demonstrating itself to be a time slot hit.

CBS will likely opt to order more episodes of The Price Is Right At Night to use as filler in the future, as it does have the potential to be a linear ratings force. It’s the same reason why the comparatively weaker Let’s Make A Deal Primetime has a better chance than not of returning. However, both shows still have little to no value outside of the linear schedule. In a landscape where 0.50s can win the night, strong linear ratings are only part of the total picture.

Coming Up
With the Super Bowl approaching on February 11, CBS is about to launch nearly the entirety of their scripted lineup. Next week will see updated preseason scripted predictions, making this week the final unscripted-centric edition. In the early preseason predictions, three shows were predicted to be canceled/ending: Young Sheldon in Tilts Cancel, Blue Bloods in Leans Cancel, and Bob Hearts Abishola in Likely Cancel. All three have since been announced to be entering their final seasons. Next week will delve into the main factors I will take into consideration for the predictions, as well as any chances of additional cancelations.
