Dr. Mehmet Oz's campaign for the Senate will lead to an earlier end for his show than expected. Despite having been renewed through the end of the 2022-23 TV season, the long-running daytime talk show will now wrap its thirteen-season run on January 14, 2022. The host's decision to seek the Republican nomination for the Pennsylvania US Senate seat being vacated by Pat Toomey was announced in November. After the launch, the show was unable to continue airing in media markets in Pennsylvania, New York City, and select Ohio markets, due to equal time laws that would have required stations to provide equal time to Oz's fellow candidates for Senate, which would have been something of a logistical nightmare (as there are fifteen Democratic and Republican candidates declared for the seat at the moment). That, combined with Oz campaigning across the state of Pennsylvania and thus not being able to film the series in its Manhattan studio, has led to a decision to end the show. It will be replaced days after its run by a series hosted by Oz's daughter, former host of The Chew Daphne Oz. The replacement show, called The Good Dish, is a spinoff of The Dr. Oz Show that will be based on cooking segments from his show.
